I think you're forgetting the fact that they don't fucking care. This is how it should've been from the beginning. The festival is awesome. This allows for much more time for patrons to enjoy DLD festivities.

The fact that they don't fucking care is endearing to me.

I'll agree that including the vintages isn't the coolest idea in the world considering it's just 14, 15, 16 ('14 the best in my opinion).

I don't mind them face fucking everyone for fun though.. big deal.

People also seem to be forgetting that when we bought tickets nobody knew what the variants would be (it has always been this way). Handjee was never guaranteed to even be an option this year. Hell, the best variant could have been Bourbon Bath Soap. So the notion of Group A tix making or breaking this fest is laughable to me.

You don't have to be a reseller to not want vintage. I have a vertical going back to '12.
I am sure a lot of collectors have the vintage bottles. Why do I need vintage bottles? I don't think it is shitty for me to want a good variant. I have never sold a single bottle ever. The only variant bottle I have ever had occurred last year and I enjoyed it. I don't even have plans to trade what I walk away with this year. It will be shared with good friends/family. But I will feel very slighted to have zero say in what I walk away with if I get vintage bottles. If I get anything else I will be happy but I think it is shitty this is even an option. I will be at a fun event, but not worth the $180 I paid walking in thinking there was no doubt I would have to worry about not getting a variant. I understand FFF can't pump out enough Vanilla BA beers for everyone, but damnit don't sell tickets to people with the pretense of a variant when that might not be the case. An MIT grad told me that FFF makes close to $1MM an hour. That was two years ago, let's add 3% inflation. Am I the one that is greedy here? Really?

I've mentioned this before as well. However, in all fairness, it appeared to be a safe bet for some time that group A was in fact getting first crack at whatever variant was the hottest on the streets.

I would not give 2 sh!ts if I were to get 2 vintage bottles (one for each bottle of course ). Folks get so worked up over a bottle of f'n beer (or two). You've got an opportunity to have up to 12 hours of enjoying beer, food and music with like minded people. With the move to randomity, have some fun & enjoy the fest!

I am mostly just commenting on the idea that people were able to get A and make a bunch of special plans to score the hot bottle of Handjee, and now this random news has screwed them. IF people were in fact doing this then they were already running on many assumptions that could have wrecked it even if the set up was the same this year. Say we got a bunch of new variants (ie. ChemTrail) none of which had vanilla? Nobody would know what the "hot" bottle would be, and the playing field would've been evened out a bit.

I am just see a lot of people get hung up on these hypothetical A ticket holders getting screwed by the random setup, when they were already playing with fire.

Why would you care to comment on what people were planning to do, specifically group A? Until last second changes went through variants were listed as first come first serve. It wasn't really an assumption considering it was listed as that (FCFS) in the FAQs. Naturally those in group A would be trying to score a Handjee, assuming one was going to be available.
Of course nobody knew what the hot bottle would be or if there would even be one, but why not try to get it if you could? My thing is...why does anyone even care what other people do and why they want to do it? I see people getting mad about it. I'm just not getting the anger going on around here.

There is no anger here. I am literally commenting on hypothetical situations brought up by other people in this thread since the random thing was announced (I am not gonna dig back and find all the posts). I am not assuming anybody was doing anything.

I am cool as a cucumber about the situation. In fact I am extatic it is random. I am gonna drop it here. Everything in this thread is either being misunderstood or starting some form of argument today.

You are ecstatic. And clearly had a later group ticket while being extatic

Jesus, I'd be estatic no matter what group I was in. This makes the day a breeze. At the end of the day it is just beer.

It's the worst version of Russian roulette, though. You have a 1 in 8 chance of getting old dark lord. Have you ever drank old dark lord? Even cellared properly it's syrupy cardboard. Meanwhile everyone else is filming a rap video dumping handjee on big booty hoes, and you're stuck sharing a bottle of 15 with your drunk uncle.

Hyperbole for sure but it's all fun and games until your bag has the variant.

I just talked to someone tonight that is volunteering again for his 4th year in a row. He expects to be at the variant table as he was the last 3 so no it's not being totally run by FFF employees
