People would definitely have a case if they asked for a refund and FFF said no

Well, you can just cut the middle man out, assume FFF's answer and go from there with MC/Visa.

 

This is the correct response. A few of you can complain until Saturday - or the end of time, whatever you prefer - about how unfair the variant process was, but for what it's worth, The Floyds has made a good faith effort to try and get the most desired variants to the greatest diversity of attendees. It makes me way happier to see that than the situation last year where we were shut out already in Group B. And that was thinking I still had a pretty good chance at the Militia and Handjees.

Furthermore, if getting older Dark Lords makes you that unhappy, then why even bother with this fest in the first place? I opened a '16 last Saturday and thought it was delectable. Maybe it's weird, but I like regular Dark Lords and if they gave me the option for two allocations if I missed out on a variant, I'd still hand over my money. I like the beer, I always have and that's part of the reason I join many other drinkers every Spring in Munster.

The only thing the complaining I've seen does is show how people who thought they had an in compared to every else now feel like they've somehow been ripped off, when in actually it's just good old fashioned greed.

 

So now we're back to the "group a people can't be annoyed/pissed/angry etc"

If they did this from the start it wouldn't be as bad, but considering they've changed the rules twice in the past week, it's annoying.

 

It's bad business practice but I think we are beating a dead horse especially with responses right about yours. Just running in circles. The only fair way to rectify this situation is to only distribute those "vintage" bottles to the people that show up to DLD late and can't make their groups.

 

Sadly, even that's not 100% fair since at the time of ticket purchase, the faq said you could come in during your group time or any group after, and now if you miss your group, you can't get in until 7. I'd be pretty upset if I got an earlier group than I was able to get there (and assumed it was fine based on the then-current FAQ) and got vintages because of it.

But don't get me wrong, I'm kinda in favor of this selfishly since I know I can get through the line during my time.

 

Three Floyds could have avoided having any angry DLD goers by just coming out with the rules beforehand. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to be more transparent, as why would they want to come off as unfair to any of their customers at all? Just seems like they reacted without thinking it all the way through. Ah well, it's their gig and if people still go and buy Three Floyds beer then good for them I guess!

 

Obviously they had no idea what to do so they looked to this group for advice... they did exactly what everyone here has been saying would be fair.... and people are still bitching.

 

Weather update

My iPhone app now has a full sun and high of 60!

 

It's like when bands listen to their fans when they say, "Everything sounds the same, try something new!"

After they do, the same fans say, "Why would you change up your sound?! Go back to what made us all fall in love you you!"

You can't win...

 

Until they announce that I am guarenteed a Handjee and they are going to personally punch my archrival in the nose, I won't be happy. Even then, he probably deserves two punches.

 

I will punch him three times if you fill my snifter with that handjee!

 

Honestly, I'm hoping for Muerte or Ronaldo the most. FVM seems like it'd be convoluted w/ three adjuncts in muscat barrels and, while awesome, I've already ticked Handjee and would like to try something different.

 

If you get Handjee and I get either Muerte or Ronaldo, I will find you and take you up on this.

 

I'm excited for any variant honestly. I think people get a bit too worked up over Handjee to be honest. Ronaldo or the regular BA would probably be my top choices.

Had a Ronaldo vs Bourbon BA DL vs Goose Rare 15 share yesterday. Bourbon BA was better than Rare and it was head and shoulders above Ronaldo. Ronaldo was so sweet where the Bourbon really cut through it.

Just wanted to share this before people make a pick between those next week

 

I am the same way. I'd love to get, and finally try, Handjee (duh), but I will gladly take and try any of them. Bourbon Barrel is always a great one. I'd like to have a taste of the new FVM to see how it is versus last year. I think ChemTrail excites me the most though! I love cinnamon, so I think I would really dig that one. Only ones I am a little nervous about are Ronaldo (fruited stouts are not my thing) and the Scotch one (the potential smokiness concerns me). But who knows.
