I'm assuming your meaning "State of Origin"? Or have I missed a festival of theirs? I went last year, and by comparison, 1/3 the size. Some great Sours though, Jester King, Wooden Robot, Carolina Brauhause all had great Sours, but there were a bunch of non sour beer there as well. Highland Brewing had a Pilsner with an infuser.

That’s the one. And it was small. Probably what I enjoyed about it. How manageable it was. It was so hot though.

There will be non WW epic sour beer events in Asheville, just give it a spell. I happened to love the sours Green Man was putting out - and have high hopes for Zebulon.

So, let me be certain I understand your stance here - the basic gist was muddied by nearly indecipherable grammar. You believe the glut of breweries are pulling out of the WW event not because they have issues with AB InBev, but due to pressure from their respective "fanboys," who you also charmingly refer to as "little bearded nerds?" Big fan of craft beer, aren't you? Thanks for the insight.

I've enjoyed Zebulons stuff thus far but not been blown away like I thought I would. Mike doesn't really like the acidic style sours he made a green man apparently (straight from his mouth).

I freaking love macio, bootsy, and Snozz and was hoping Mike would pump out beers in these styles. Oh well.

I'm pumped for the Asheville beer weekend at Green Man. Bottle pours Friday and Saturday and Snozz release Sunday.

ABI should be the one writing the check to cover losses to the charity.

Jester King posted a receipt for a $1,000 donation to Eblen on instagram earlier, so that may be what a few choose to do. WW / InBev should be the ones stroking these checks, not the small independent brewers who were blindsided by this crap.

Why would ABI write checks for others who willingly left of their own accord/high horse?

I think the NC breweries will likely not be there, they just don't feel the need to make a public post about it and draw a lot of attention to it. Which I think is the right course of action.

I understand breweries like JK and RB doing it the way they did because they don't want someone in the region to buy a ticket expecting to be able to drink their beer and then be disappointed. So go ahead and give people a heads up, especially since the tickets were about to go on sale. But people in the region can still go visit places like Burial and Fonta Flora, they don't need this festival to try their beer.

    My thought anyway.

Um, while true, you can probably hit Fonta Flora and find a Sour on tap, I seriously doubt you find a Sour on tap at Burial, or Greenman, or Twin Leaf, or APB or One World or Upland, or Highland, or Pisgah or Wedge...

Remember this was a Sour beer event. Now thankfully there are bottle shops like Appalachian Vintners that a) usually have several sours on tap and b) have a LOT of bottled sours to enjoy.

Edit: Props to Hi-Wire who's coming on strong with Sour Beer production, Natty Greene is having its sour beer month and honorable mention to Thirsty Monk & Tasty Beverage that will also have Sour's on tap.

You can always find sours on tap at Twin Leaf. Admittedly, most of them aren't intentional, but they're there.

Try the sours from Granite Falls - long a so-so brewery, IMO - making some good things recently.

I was narrowing it down to a replacement for the WW Invitational which is/was a sour beer only event. Wasn't thinking of the masses in general heading into town, which I think was more your point looking back. I'm being testy a bit... What was once THE Sour Beer event on the east coast is now a mere shell of its former glory. As a consumer, I'm perturbed and lashing out. Sorry.

I am sure some if not all of the breweries that are backing out have the beer intended for it fermenting or in barrels. I can only assume they will blend it like JK is doing or just serve it in the taproom. So that beer will not go to waste. I am just glad tickets had not gone on sale prior to this fiasco.

Good lord people. Give it a rest already. Eventually the way public opinion works is very soon there will be a reaction against the initial reaction...going back in favor of WW. People just like to be on the other side of popular opinion. Just watch.

I think we're all fairly aware that we're in the minority and will be the only ones who remember this decision in a years time..
