It's an hour away. It's closer than Rockford

Going to refrain from Squeezit as it is the most recent I've had. (Bringing a crowler to DLD and am hoping it is as delicious).

I really liked Mic Check 1,2 and the first batch of lunches, brunches.

I think Snoochie boochies, Yayo and Death by snu snu are all a tie for me.

I miss being near Narrow Gauge so much. I honestly think they compete with the big boys on the coasts.

Rockford isn't part of Chicagoland either. Do we have to break out the Chicagoland map again? :grinning: You aren't even in the same time zone with Transient.

DDH was very similar to the last Chicago batch of JIL, in my opinion. Awesome beer, and better than the batch of King Sue I had.

I've only had one beer from Trillium (Galaxy Dry Hopped Fort Point), and while it's as good as most of the options in Chicago, I don't think it's better. I think the recent stuff from Corridor is pretty similar.

One of the things that keeps this style interesting is that different people are looking for different things (sweet vs. bitter, full-bodied vs crushable, etc.), and that's reflected in the different offerings we're starting to see.

For me I have the local Juice is Loose drop, Super Special Sauce, SqueezeIt and Galaxy Bowl B1. Tough to narrow it down to 1.

Edit: NE Slapper is also on this list...

I have to go SqueezIt from what I've had and for what my preference is. Which is citra/mosaic, low bitterness and soft mouthfeel.

If I'm remembering correctly that Corridor said it'd be releasing a new NE-style pale each week, does anyone know what this week's will be?

    Update:

Newest batches are rolling out and I'm happy with the direction things are going. I've been playing around with the grain bills (dropped all oats). Nantucket Gold was tapped Friday and is pouring great. Citra/Simcoe is bringing predictable results. A nice combo of citrus and pine. Clean hop presence. Bitterness is def on the low end but I think it is balanced nicely with the medium soft body. Personally, I love drinking these 5% pales.

The 3F collab is fucking nuts. "Stay Lit" - is unlike anything I've ever had. The sweetness from the lactose and huge stone fruit juiciness is insane. The fruit woods add a very subtle complexity. You are not going to get "oaky" out of this because of the species of wood. (Cherry and Yellow Birch). Don't expect this to compete with the big NEIPAs...it's not in the same class, it's something completely different. That being said, if you are in this thread, you really need to try this. It's also the haziest beer I've brewed. Looks like a fucking candle. It will be pouring at the pub this Friday at 4pm. It will also be tapped this Saturday at both DLD and Pale Pauper!

Brewing a new batch of Snoochie Boochies today. This will be the first batch with my new water and mash profiles. I expect it to be the best batch yet. Ready in less than 2 weeks, updates to come. Later this week, brewing a new rye neipa (Zap Rowsdower)

Mark your calendars for the NEIPA tap takeover at FR during Chicago Craft Beer Week, May 25th. Waiting on the final list, but here are the folks that said they were participating. More details in the next week or two.

    Forbidden Root
    Mikerphone
    Hailstorm
    Noon Whistle
    Marz
    Illuminated
    Lake Effect
    Sketchbook
    Hubbards Cave

Oaky is fine, but if a beer is going to just give me straight wood, even better....
