They only put up the big tent 2 years ago on Friday, when it was clear it was going to rain.

3 years ago, there was only the small tent. If there's no rain (fingers crossed) they will only have the small tent.

I've been going to DLD for years and always find a way to have a great time / silver lining, but I have to say, I agree with you on your above post.

Would I be slightly disappointed to get a "bad" variant? sure, a little. But considering I already have enough regular DL bottles from years past, i'd be a little more than upset if, after paying ~$200, i get 2 "vintage" bottles that they just had left over from previous years.

Not the end of the world, of course. But I too, would like to be getting something "new" for the money I'm forking over for this.

    just my $0.02

The reason it's an issue for some folks is because 2 years ago "an opportunity to have up to 12 hours of enjoying beer, food and music with like minded people" cost us $60 and then they decided they were going to front-charge us for the beer.

Which made a portion of the cost of the ticket about the beer, not the event.

I do think the whole thing is a bit wild though. Am I gonna be pissed if I get vintage DL? Yep, but I'll just trade it for some hazy bullshit from NE or something. Not going to let it ruin the day

How can that be your expectation? The terms of the tickets are extremely plain and easy to understand.

DARK LORD DAY MMVII BREAKING NEWS:
(Information obtained via email correspondence between myself and FFF)

    The Staging Area
    - All guests, regardless of group assignment, have the ability to enter at the Main Entrance at 6am. Tickets, ID's, and bags will be checked here. At this time, you will all be in the staging area and Group A ticket holders can make their way to the separate line.

What happens when that staging area is full? LOL.

They need to have a process in place for Group A's who show up after 6. Like, skip the line, walk up show badge, go into the A line.

:rolling_eyes:Yeah, and how can your expectation be that you actually arrive at your destination when you book an airline flight? The terms of the tickets are extremely plain and easy to understand. I bet you are so entitled you actually make a plan home from the airport in advance rather than adjusting to whatever time the airline gets you there....

There may or may not have been sales figures that indicated that the number of people that paid for attendance but did not purchase beer was extremely low, and the clear path to improvement for the event (as previously indicated by people on all sides of this discussion) was to take the cash exchange out of the process.

I can kinda sorta see being not super jazzed bout having the price of a variant factored into the cost of the ticket and there being a chance that you don't even end up with a variant (though if they went back to the scratch-off and no bottles for losing scratches, but price remained the same, there would be a much bigger complaint to be made, imo). I just don't think the number of people pissed off about it warrants going back to cash exchange, etc.

The terms of airline tickets actually are pretty plain, so long as you take the time to read them. There's a lot more "fine print" involved and it's a complex industry with a shitload of regulation involved, too, as compared to a beer festival with the following ticket terms:

But yeah, dawg, false equivalences are easy and fun, so whatever, right?

To be fair, I believe the point being made here is that the tickets went on sale with "First come first served", then changed to "Even split for each group, first come first served" -- annoying as it may be, both of these allowed the person to decide how badly they wanted the variant of their choice (line up early, or don't) -- and then they changed to "Roll the dice, bitches"

And so, yes, the terms were known. And now the terms have changed twice. But hey I guess one of the terms was that the terms can change.. So yay?

Honestly tho this has all been hashed out over the past 80 pages of this thread. *shrug*

Apparently it's absurd for DLD attendees to expect a variant when they line up for their group allotment in time, and to be extremely disappointed if they get vintage DL bottles....

I wish they would go back to having a portion of GA tickets. I would probably go that route and then just try to buy a couple bottles off friends.

I don't see how it won't be with them cutting down to 1 line this year. Gonna be a massive traffic jam down there

How expensive has the Dark Matter stuff been in the past? Also if FFF is super packed for dinner, which I believe it will be, is it worth going to Flossmoor for dinner and Wooden Hell? How much would Wooden Hell be if anyone knows?
