    hello all,
I've searched the forums and haven't necessarily found what I'm looking for.

*Disclaimer I know I can do the work myself google has all the answers but I'd like some input from locals*

Flying into Denver this week and planning on renting a car for a day and making the trek out to Casey. As of now it would be this Friday, and I'm thinking we would do the 11AM tour.

I'm more or less looking for the best food spots possibly in or around Glenwood springs, and other non beer related things to do during he Afternoon, including lunch, scenery, bike rentals (?), touristy stuff to do in that area. Maybe even on the way back in to Denver, if there are any worthy cities/towns to stop in grab good & drink or look at something cool.

Thanks in advance for any help. Also if I missed a thread answering my question please point me in the right direction.

Stop at Outer Range in Frisco on your way back for some great NE style IPAs. If you're looking to get dinner in Frisco, Vinny's has great food.

Others will probably have more insight about Glenwood, I usually go for a hike or ski when I'm out there season depending

My vote would be for the pullman as far as food goes. Cheers

There's a lot of good food through there. The Pullman, Lost Cajun, Grind, Rosi's, Coloradough.
For beers, Glenwood Canyon Brewpub does "old school" styles really well. The Brew Garden off of 6th has a great selection of beers from all over CO.

Glenwood Springs is a great town with lots to do - wife and I got married there because we love it so much!

    For food:
    -Slope & Hatch for Tacos
    -Grind for Burgers
    -Italian Underground
-Rosi's Little Bavarian (good breakfast as well)
-As mentioned, Glenwood Canyon Brewpub for pub grub and some good, straight-forward beers
-Daily Bread for Coffee & Quick Breakfast
-Pullman for a nice Steak dinner

    Things to do:
-Glenwood Springs Adventure Park (amusement park on top of a mountain - great views!)
-Hot Springs (both Glenwood & Iron Mountain)
-Hiking, specifically Boy Scout Trail (avoid Hanging Lake unless you absolutely have to do it - it's always packed)

I can't comment much on beer places other than the brewpub because that's usually where I post up when I'm in Glenwood Springs.

Wife and I go there semi-annually or so for our anniversary. Love it. A lot has already been mentioned but we also like driving up the Roaring Fork Valley to Aspen. Only takes about an hour or so from Glenwood Springs. Carbondale (only about a 10 minute drive from Casey) also has a couple breweries -- Carbondale Beer Works and Roaring Fork Beer Co. We've had some pretty decent pub-style food at Carbondale Beer Works.

I'd also highly recommend Carbondale restaurants Phat Thai and Town; both are owned/operated by Mark Fischer, who also owns The Pullman in Glenwood Springs. Also, the bridge traffic is a nightmare right now in Glenwood, you can skip it if you drive to the West Glenwood Exit and travel along the south side of the road to where Casey is located.

Re the bridge traffic, it is only going to get worse (until it gets better, I hope).

I was talking with Troy while picking up beer last weekend and he said the bridge is going to be completely closed for around 95 days. You will have to detour through West Glenwood. Yikes. Some further Googling indicates that the closure will start in August: https://www.codot.gov/projects/sh82grandavenuebridge/assets/phase-3/gab-fact-sheet

Do you think this will impact any west and east bound traffic on I-70 before and after Glenwood Springs? Late mid/late Jun?

    Cheers!

Hanging lake was vandalized recently and is closed until further notice.

Yeah, Polanka. Never been, but some folks swear by it. It's across from the Brew Garden and over by Rosi's.

I believe they were remodeling or something when I was there, so did not get a chance to try them out.

    Cheers!

Doesn't seem like it will create any more issues on I-70 than are already present because of the construction but with road construction...ya never know. Ya know?

Don't say that.:grimacing: I'm not a fan of anything east of Glenwood Springs, driving wise that is, and at least on I-70. The least times I have to do it the better.

    Cheers!

Polanka is great - super traditional and delicious food. Not much in the way of ambiance though.

Need recommendations for a good 2-3 hour hike along the corridor from Breck to GS or in either town this summer. Going to be leaving Breck in the AM headed to GS for 2pm Casey tasting. Looking for a morning hike beforehand that's not busy like Hanging Lake. Thanks in advance!

Check this place out. I've never done any hikes in GS.
