On one hand, I wish my wife would drink a bit more hoppy stuff because if I buy a 4 pack of something, I'm definitely drinking all 4. But damn, if it can swing that far the other way, maybe I should be happy with where I'm at...

I'm not the biggest fan of Daisy Cutter, honestly. Although if I'm out at a bar and my only options are Bud Light/312/Daisy Cutter, I'm going Daisy Cutter all night. That being said, the last batch of Double Daisy Cutter was straight fire - that stuff was delicious!

I'm looking forward to GDDC, as the Binny's out this way is getting in on Friday.

Honestly, I've always felt that that was its niche. It's a solid go-to when you have limited options. I'd never buy it at a place with lots of other craft beer, but if I go to a bar or liquor store that doesn't really do craft, I'm always happy to see DC.

This sums up my feelings as well. I don't think it's a bad beer, maybe a little overrated, but I never buy it outside of these situations. In terms of HA's lower ABV offerings, I much prefer Akari Shogun, Tuna, and I really liked Tasty Waves (too bad this isn't a canned seasonal).

It just doesn't taste very good to me period... regardless of beer style categorization.

And even in a comparison to another beer in the same category, Pipeworks Lizard King... Daisy Cutter falls extremely short of that by a large margin.

    IMO of course.

Never afraid to be the contrarian .... I was underwhelmed by GDDC. Maybe I expected more due to the hype, but I had a Galaxy Hero the same evening (intentional comparison) and would take that over GDDC every day, even more so when you factor in the price.

See, I'm the exact opposite. I haven't bought a bomber or pack of Hero (any) in years, because they're too...malty, maybe (?) for my taste.

I think it really comes down to the style you like. HA's Daisy Cutter line is kind of grassy, so if you don't like that you may not like GDDC. Rev's stuff is more malty, so if you like malt, that'll appeal more to you.

On the other hand, I'm also passing on GDDC this year, since there's so much other stuff to buy, AND the shadow of Beer Hates Astronauts looms over my thoughts...

Ha my gf was ready to fight me for the last can of Humanimal Stasis. Picked up two 4packs of GDDC and this morning on the way to work she says, "Maybe we should pick up another 4pack or two of GDDC. Because, they're going to run out, right?" I rarely see her nerd out like I do.

The funny thing is, to me, I think it's DDC that is overrated.

It's a nice beer, but doesn't warrant the money it costs. Especially when they offer Navaja for the same price.

Idk, when you charge 15.99, you gotta be using more exciting hops. Maybe that's just me.

The difference is, I don't say the beer is bad. I just say it's not worth the money. It's a well made beer for what it is.

Yeah, I don't think DDC is that special and yet I think DC is a top 5 pale ale.

While I agree that DDC "isn't that special," I always assumed the cost per 4-pack was just them charging for a "small batch" beer (since most of the smaller batch cans from HA seem to be that price).

But no doubt, if you ask me to choose between DDC and Navaja, I will choose Navaja every single time outside of once (since I like to try DDC at least once a year).

Always loved Daisy Cutter. As HawksBeerFan said, I think people forget what a true west coast style pale ale is. There really isn't a pale ale in the midwest that compares to it (extremely high IBU, extremely low malt bill, extremely dry finish). Whether you like it or not, is all about preference. But there was nothing like it here when they started brewing it, and still nothing that is similar.

Now DDC to me is a completely different beer (higher malt bill, syrupy, sweet). More of a typical IIPA. I enjoy it but will never go out of my way for it. GDDC works much better imo. And not really sure why, just maybe that I love galaxy hops.

Skokie Binny's just got their delivery - I grabbed a couple of 4-packs out of what looked like 12-15 cases on the floor (with all the other deliveries not yet shelved).

I think this is it. Certainly will not be to everyone's preference, but it's got a really nice dry finish, which makes it an easy beer to drink (despite not being as overtly hoppy, as, say, Lizard King).

I agree that GDDC is better than DDC by a relatively wide margin, because I think the low malt/high dryness of DDC makes the higher ABV come through too strongly. Adding the galaxy hops really brings it together. Honestly, if they could pull it off, I wish they'd scratch DDC and make a double batch of GDDC. Also, galaxy hops are probably my 3rd favorite (citra > mosaic > galaxy), so you're right, that doesn't hurt, either.
