My second to last bottle from all the singles I hunted down around these parts. I'm hoping the next release is much easier to find because of the sale. I'm tasting less coffee and more barrel with a heavy oak presence. A pleasant way to start the weekend on this fine spring day.

Good morning and happy Friday BA's! I know it's been almost an entire week, and you are all just dying for another awards , so I guess I'll happily oblige. Hope everyone has a great weekend and takes care of their Mom's! (FINAL NOTICE to get them something, slackers!!!) Alright, it's time for the Glass of the Day Awards!

    GotD:
@SawDog505 , obviously! I mean, c'mon, it's a bad ass Darth Vader weisse glass (or pilsner glass, depending on who you ask or what's in it). Cheers and congrats my friend!
2nd: For this lovely high stemmed gem, @M-Fox24 . Always have been a fan of your roof top photos as well, for what that's worth.
3rd: And finally, to @tolar111 for this lovely Blanche de Chambly pokal.

Honorable mention goes out to @RonaldTheriot for this simply wonderful stubby stemmed pilsner glass.
Cheers everyone, and I will see you all soon!

    GotD.

New day, a usual suspect, and a recycled photo (sorry). Gotta work! Complete new, revised draft and shaved off several thousand words. Now comes the infernal figure/map insertions for each chapter. Woof. CHEERS!

    This one . . .

    Score 3.83
    look: 3.5 | aroma: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Nice dark almost inky black color with small light tan cap.

An aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramelized toffee and something like overripe dark figs in the background. Don't really get much hop presence except for some hint of freshness riding as a top note overall.

Taste is rather simple yet complex, which is to say there are a number of threads woven together but not too tightly. The flavor threads remain distinct but that may be a plus because I've had some Porter/Stouts with the same characteristics that were frankly a muddled mess whereas this one comes across as brightly distinct.

Texture is full and balanced with sufficient carbonation.

Overall it's a cut above. This is not a diminished Stout, rather something that proudly stands on it's own.

Dark Lord Day prep, part two: getting the ears ready for the music. (Plus, for full disclosure, the four year old made me listen to the new New Kids on the Block cd we just bought for her and her mom on the ride home from the store. The below song was like an audial enema)

    Founders Sumatra Mountain Brown.
Just the right amount of coffee, booze and caramel malt.
9.0% alc by vol. bottled on 4/4/17.
Founders could stick to just dark beers and I would be fine with that. Cheers everyone.

Lobby bar has a pour your own tap wall featuring local beers. Mrs. Z and her sister are enjoying Cokes on the rocks. I'm starting with Flying Dog's Bloodline Blood Orange IPA:

It's ok. I had to search for the orange...

Closed on our house this morning, won't be able to do anything with it until Monday, as the weekend is booked up. The Wife & I stopped in at the new Local Watering hole ( Blue Duck Cafe ) for a celabatory Lunch. I had a Coop Alha Hive with my Shrimp & Grits. The Chef told me they are already expanding from 8 to 20 taps!
