I've got a MBCP sitting in the cellar and since I've had it before I'd prefer to trade this bottle. Problem is, I have no idea what it compares to in the trading forum. I'd love to get a whale but obviously its not at that status. I enjoy drinking IPAs but I'd prefer to not get housed on a trade (like I did in trading a BCBCS for a Sculpin straight up years back).

So in the land of sours, lambics, or barleywines, what does it stack up against and what is a realistic trade?

    Cheers!

i would guess that too few have been bottled to really gauge it as generally as you want. my rough guess is that the answer is "it's worth more than you think it is, but less than you want it to be."

that said, you'll get the real answer in the form of private messages soon enough. also, i'm sorry to inform you that you're opening a de facto auction, so i wouldn't be surprised if the thread gets reported/deleted (i'm not reporting it). in light of that, i'd counsel: don't take/believe your first specific response (e.g. if someone offers you sucaba or something), but don't ransom the beer like a dick. beer's for drinking, and trading's not about profit maximization (if you want to maximize profits, the appropriate place for that is at your job, not on BA).

is this one of those beers where the bottling is of questionable quality and the resulting product is oxidized or infected?

yup. people still will probably roll the dice though, since apparently this usually results in a win for the roller.

o, of course. confirmation bias runs rampant in the high-stakes beer trading world (wale street, as i call it).

eh, i don't know if i'd call "fb seems to have good enough sanitation that they don't infect their beers," confirmation bias. as for oxidation, i can't imagine their beers last very long, but there's anecdotal evidence that the normal and imperial porter do. (shrug)

remember also that the roller wins immediately if they're just trying to tick. of course, in that case they also lose before they roll.

Just a FYI ... The Last Snow was one of my all time favorite beers. I gave up a lot, but it was worth it IMO.

Thanks guys. Pahn, I appreciate the auction feedback. Honestly that wasnt my intention. I truly just dont know what this compares to and didnt want to look like a jackal when I posted a FT. Julian B, yeah thats what I thought 6 months after I realized that at the very least I probably could have gotten 2 or 3 sculpins. Oh well, the sculpin at the time was my favorite beer so I think both sides were happy.

    Cheers guys. Appreciate the feedback.
