Yeah, after 2 years I keep thinking I need to take less beer. I only opened 2 bombers and a couple of cans. My bag has been awkwardly huge both years, think I need to keep it to 2 or 3 bombers and a few 12/16 oz cans or bottles, maybe add a little if it's something special that I know will move.

Yeah, people were indicating that there were 10k tickets. I always assumed it was 12.5k but went with the 10k since most people believed that. But with so many people getting vintages, if there were 12.5k that percentage would go from 14% (1398 people) to 31% (3898 people)!

Actually, I can confirm that 4 vintage bottles plus 2 2017 DL don't equal a variant either. I spent far too long trying to do that trade (for any variant whatsoever) and almost everyone laughed at me.

The problem with people successfully gaming the system by looking at bags ahead of time means that the people who don't game the system, or aren't as good at doing it, are far more likely to get screwed. The other problem is that the vintage situation hurt the regulars who've been to DLD multiple times the most; first timers weren't so sad about vintage bottles.

I suppose in the end it's an issue of expectations, I never was that pissed about both my wife & I not getting a variant in the scratch-off era because I didn't really expect to get one; whereas this time there was apparently less than a 2% chance of both of us striking out.

Great weather, better run than usual, good bottle share with some nice people, but in the end expectations and my inability to let shit go leave me disappointed.

I looked at a tons of people's bags throughout the day and I think it's way less than 31% who had vintages. 14% sounds more accurate.

That's true, I guess it could be worse. Thank you for the even better pours! Was looking for ya later, but between the alcohol and numbers, I never saw you haha.

I'd be curious to know what % of variant bottles are held back and not distributed on DLD. I'm sure the brewery hangs on to some to age, give to employees, special guests/friends, Dragon Abortion, vendors, etc. May or may not be a significant number.

I had such a blast this year. The most notable part of my morning was waiting to get my bag checked, and hearing a guy behind me who was trying to get rid of his bottle before entering say, "WOW, REALLY?! You're going to say no to some Angry Chair?! Scrub!"

The super beer geeks were out early...

Finally caught up on my Untappd check-ins over the weekend. (Took lots of pics and did a batch check in today) Total of 51 unique check-ins.

My wife was a real trooper all weekend but I don't think she'll be coming back. So, next year, it'll be a man trip with friends.

Overall, a great weekend. Got 2 variants, 8 DL bottles, tasted a bunch of new stuff and talked with a lot of fellow attendees.

Found out this weekend that I'm officially not cool enough to get a pour of Assassin. Lol. I was pouring a Nightmare on Brett with Raspberries to strangers in the staging area before 9 and as I was doing so I came across a dude with an open Assassin. I offered the CS and asked if I could get a pour of the Assassin and was denied. First time in 6 years of attending DLD for that one to happen.

No I wouldn't let something that ruin it. It was just really strange honestly. Laughed it off and moved on. Had a great time.

Has anyone tried this years FVM yet? I am curious about the sweetness compared to last years with the barrel swap.

My friends and I cracked open some DLD leftovers at the hotel this morning. By 10:30 we put down a bomber of Fremont BBA Coffee Dark Star and a mix of 3 TH and Trillium cans. Heading to a cookout at my aunts house now and will be cracking open some more bottles and cans. Need to make room in my suitcase for the flight home.

I broke my one rule I had going into this year (the only people I would not offer pours to were those wearing DA shirts). But that's how I do DLD. I handed out pours of everything I had all day, including DA shirt wearers.
