Thanks for sharing...now if I only could've remembered it. That makes me think of one other thing I need to do differently next year...eat some real food during the fest. As nice as it was having pretzels, cheese, and salami to snack on, getting something more substantial may have helped me remember a few of those forgotten moments in the afternoon.

BTW...I said coming into this year I'd eat food and drink some of the taps at DLD. I really need to do better at following through apparently.

Third year I went, definitely the best by far. I never felt rushed which was awesome. Got to try Dwarven on tap and it was damn good. Got pours of Assasin and Mornin Delight from complete strangers so that was pretty cool. My buddy got Handjee so I'll get to split that with him, but unfortunately I got Vintage (15,16). This is my only gripe, it's not really that random. There were plenty of people gaming the system. If they saw the wrong caps they would go to the next table. I also have heard from a few people that if you slipped the guy at the table a $20 you didn't get Vintage. I walked up and bumped the table, guy gave me a dirty look, passed over one bag, then handed me 2 vintages. I'll be back next year but I really hope there is no Vintage, or they organize it a little better.

So this was my 5th consecutive DLD and by far the best. Lines moved quickly (except the Dark Matter tent) and randomizing the variants we a great move by Three Floyds. That kepy the whole festival engaged and excited to get in line. My only two complaints; next year they need to provide a variant for everyone and some of the more limited beers were few and far between on the taps. Being from Texas I literally could not consume ZD fast enough but I would have liked to see more offerings from breweries located in "the region". Great festival, cheers everyone. Looking forward to 2018.

Hops are my game! The saison premiere and archer I won online so I figured I better share. I think someone about passed their pants waiting for it because I was drunk and slow.

Thank you for that BA darkness!! I've been searching for that for the better part of a year. I hope I hit you with a few more pours as well.

I don't get why people are assuming that the presence of vintage bottles means that they had a batch of variants go bad. The only year everyone got a variant (even unlucky bastards like me) was last year, and they didn't have enough 2016 variants for everyone that year either.

I'm hoping that worse case they have a bunch of variants left over from this year that people didn't pick up or that they otherwise kept in reserve (which makes our 4 vintage bottles burn a bit harder) which they can use to fill in next year in lieu of vintage regular bottles. It would even be better than last year because there weren't really any bad variants this year, and the variants left over are "random" anyways so they'd include a mix.

That said, it sounds like they sent a lot of left over variants to warpigs in the past, so maybe they'll just do that again and my wife & I can get no variants two years in a row.

    what. a. weekend.

only took a few pics as i was non stop as soon as we got off the shuttle. beautiful weather at the festival, minimal lines (or total lack-there-of), great sharing with people. unfortunately i don't think I met or mentioned BA while there, but did see one person with a DA shirt and had to snap a pic. cheers to you, dude! i made that as a joke but it was really cool seeing someone wearing it. regarding variants i really think this is the way to go. i don't think there is any scenario to make everyone happy, so randomizing it levels the playing field. if they can somehow produce enough variants to ensure everyone attending gets something, that has to be as ideal as it gets. my wife and I both got Muertes and my friend got a Handjee (in Group E! LOL). i'm curious to browse the thread and facebook group to see what people can possibly complain about after this year (because i know some will) because overall it was an awesome time!

Anyone go to the brewpub on Sunday? Anything good at the kiosk or on tap?

I felt bad for the employees (volunteers) who had to hand out the tote bags as I am sure they all received a few nasty comments from people that received vintages. Just to further emphasize what people have been stating; I asked the employee how he was doing and then he grabbed a bag and looked inside to see the vintages; he then went back and looked at other bags and gave me a bag with FVM. It definitely was not 100% random. I couldn't be more thankful.

It is nice to see that FFF basically evaluates the fest every year and makes changes to improve it. It was perfect this year other than not having enough variants. The only other issue with the fest cannot be controlled by FFF, which is the theft and shadiness of certain attendees.

Your friend is a douche bag but thats the price. But probably could have gotten 6-700 with the FOMO right after pick ups.

I didn't go, but I heard FVM was on yesterday, which is kinda weird, considering it never popped up at the fest.

Maybe 2 kegs of zombie dust at the same station isn't as necessary?

I'll never fault anyone for selling a beer for that kind of cash.

They also weren't charging $180-200 to get into the fest prior to last year, so I think that has something to do with why people think something went south with a variant or two.

A guy on the Facebook page told a story about how a stranger asked him for a pour of his KBBS. Rather than give him one he chugged the rest straight out of the bottle in front of him. I think those guys are in the minority but there are a handful of them at these events.

Oh yes, that's another knock on the fest. There seemed to be a lot more wolves hovering around the bottle pick-up gate. Didn't even make it a step out before getting bombarded with: "Want to sell your variant?" "How much do you want for it?" It was a gauntlet of degenerates.

Only my 2nd DLD and thought it went much better than last year's one (even not considering the weather). That's probably because I was more prepared for it, knew what to expect, etc.

I may have been in shock when I was exiting (got the Hanjee in Group A) and only heard 1 guy offering Abraxas, but he didn't even know what I had. He was randomly offering it for some variant I didn't hear.

There may be a place for your SP bottles but if I'm holding a $400 Assassin in my hands and you offer me a $10 Crooked Stave... Piss Off!

Your first mistake was paying $400 for Assassin. Your second mistake was attending DLD where it's about the spirit of sharing.
