I assure you that the small group of people who trade beers are by no stretch of the imagination "a majority of the country."

A majority of the country does not even know Grape Lotion exists.

    1) they do little pours, try them all.

    2) Not sure if they're better or not but the Fremont BS20 and Ex-Novo ISO:NEIPA are both pretty tasty.

I'd head over to Belmont station. It is a beer nirvana for me. More to your question, their website is still listing Fremont's BS as in stock. Maybe it's a west coast/ne hybrid. I wouldn't know. Shrug. But it was damn delicious.

    Exactly as others have said:

    1) All of them.

    2) Pick up some BS from Belmont Station. But probably not, no.

First of all, I actually do think that GN is world class for the style of beer they brew. Just because I think they make some weird business decisions in no way diminishes that. That is exactly my point ... you don't know what you're talking about at all.

Secondly, I'm not trying to get into a dick swinging contest about who has had the most beers from GN like you're trying to suggest. That was never anywhere close to the point I was making.

It's official ... I now put you in the same category as the Turntable Cat.

Nothing wrong with GN, and I would recommend pretty much everything on offer. Depending on what's on offer, the Double Stack and Blue Muffin are good, and the IPA's are decent as well. If you're planning to visit them (GN) anyway, then I would not try to steer you away from them.

As for other local options, there are so many, it's hard to make a recommendation. Block 15 and Culmination do a nice job, and God knows Claim 52 makes a ton of different versions. Frankly, just my two cents, but maybe go to a place like Growler Guys or Tin Bucket (both places have an outstanding tap selection), and tell them that's what you're looking for. Pretty sure they can hook you up.

Look, I appreciate that you like GN. I do too and I live in Portland, as it turns out, which kinda disproves what you've been saying. Thing is, the broad sweeping statements you keep making are based on this forum which can be - at times - an echo chamber made up of a dozen or so people, not all of whom are even from Portland. I respect the people posting in this forum a lot, actually. They have wisdom, humor, enjoy haiku, preferences and - yes - biases. I do too. But if you really think the population of Portland is made up of 12 people, or that this forum is representative of a city our size - many of whom love to drink beer- then I just don't know what to say to you.

I really want to give you a chance, since it seems we both like the same brewery (I perhaps not as much as you, but still) but your posts are becoming less and less credible. I don't want to dismiss you as a troll, because I'm not sure that's what's happening, but the constant bickering and willfull denial of a balanced point of view suggest this.

It was a festival filled with uber beer geeks, taking place on the opposite side of the country, where featuring extremely hyped beer had never before been available out there. Of course it was one of the most popular things at the event.

I have no doubt that if the situation was reversed and a similar fest was held in Portland, Trillium and Treehouse would be the first to kick for the exact same reason.

Think it's FAR too early to talk about them as a world-class entity. I'd say the same for your local offering of Cellarmaker. While both craft good-great offerings, let's see how everyone is doing after at least 5-10 years of operation. I enjoy beers from both, but let's temper our enthusiasm until there's a more developed track record of homeruns vs. singles. Your approach would be similar to me claiming that Moonraker should already be considered world-class. While I love a lot of their beers, let's see them sustain their success before we're handing them an international crown/stage. YMMV

Terms like "world class", "GOAT", "legendary", "epic", etc. are so overused these days.

I see that crowlers will be available this friday May 19. Is this release something that will sell out so quick, that I would need to stand in line for an hour or so ? 2 crowlers PP. 200 crowlers

Did some brewery just trademark Juice? I see they're renaming Juice, Jr to Junior and Juice Box to JB.

Well, a quick look at the beers listed here show 374 beers with the word 'juice' in the name. If somebody trademarked it, they're gonna have their hands full.

I've seen other beers called Juice Box before. Not sure who owns the rights.

Probably not hours, but I would recommend getting there pretty close to opening bell. I went to the Strawberry Shortcake release, and arrived about 5 minutes after opening. I think there were probably 30 or 40 people in front of me.

If you want to be certain of obtaining a couple crowlers, I would recommend getting there no later than an hour after opening.

Yeah, looking at Untappd there are several beers named Juice Box, but it looks like GN is the only brewery who uses Juice, Jr. Just seems odd they're changing both names.

I'm guessing someone is defending their copyright on "juice" in general as a beer term.

Whoa...strange thread. I go to Portland once or twice a month for work and was just coming by to see if there was any news on them opening another facility or canning line or something. I thought I had heard something like that when I was in town last (was obviously a little buzzed), but didn't see anything on their website.

Anyway, with regard to your questions, from an outsider that scours the area for IPAs, hazy or otherwise, while in town, I would recommend most of Great Notion's IPAs for sure. As others have mentioned, they do flights so just get them all LOL.

With regard to other Hazies, Portland hasn't had quite the NEIPA explosion that CA has, but I thought Breakside's Something Wicked was Awesome. I got two 32 oz growlers last time i was in town with the plan to bring them home....but drank them in my hotel room lol
