Never been to that restaurant before. Anyone thats been, just incase cans not available at the taproom, think those cans are for on site consumption only or to go as well?

 

We call it horseshit round these parts.

 

I would think on site. That being said its an awesome place, and with a few 80 degree days, a great time to get over there. Its basically a seafood shack on a huge deck overlooking the mouth of the Navesink river. Awesome spot to grab an inexpensive lobster and throw back some Wit Whales.

 

Wit Whale is grossly underrated. I hope they will have some cans at the brewery for sale.

 

Has anyone else had an experience like this? A few of the Carton beers I've had reminded me of other beers. Now, I'm no Cicerone nor can I identify things such as "stone fruit" in beer so bear with me. But I've felt that HopPun tasted like a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, 0077XX tasted like Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Boat tasted like Yards Philadelphia Pale Ale.

Am I completely crazy? Does my palate suck?

 

FWIW I definitely have never noticed any SNPA flavors in HopPun. I think HopPun is distinctly sweeter / more tropical in aroma than SNPA.

 

Wit Whale through Blueberries sounds fantastic on this warm afternoon

 

for what its worth i'd say "no, i don't see it." and if you write into steal this beer i'll rant about why i could see it and why you shouldn't see it because that's the fun of tasting. but what i will say is: "those are some of the greatest beers in craft ever so i am flattered to be thought of in their company."

 

but you can't read that email because it's not about double dry hopping and your streak of consecutive episodes wherein the e-mail question was about ddh will end at like 8 or 9.

P.S. I'm like 3 episodes behind so if the streak is already over don't @ me hashtag no spoilers

 

Crazy but true: making my first visits to Kane and Carton this weekend. Question: Can you bring your own food into their tap rooms?

I suppose if I really wanted to I could do a blind side-by-side but then I'm really just itching my own curiosities.

 

since smells are being talked about and this is the carton thread... the carton beer to me that was amazing but smelled the worst was Rickey, the first batch a few years ago..

so much cherry/lime flavor.. so much stink on the nose, basically smelled like a dumpster on a hot day or vomit.. your choice... but I didn't even care... that beer tasted glorious

any chance rickey is making an appearance again soon?

Also, could really go for Dune Fruit again... that beer was a banger.... was like a prickly pear/watermelon juice delight... perfect for days when it's hot as balls out and you want a beer but you know you should probably just drink water... when it's that hot out and i do go for a beer.... dune fruit was perfect

 

Agreed with everything you said about Rickey. And bring it back in cans!

Sakura > Dune Fruit. Would love Sukura again this June.

 

I thought I heard once they alternate between Monkey Chased the Weasel and Dune fruit from year to year, so if that's correct, I think that means Dune fruit is up this year?

Really enjoyed Dune fruit.. Missed Sakura, so can't compare unfortunately...

When is Beach supposed to be released? Or did I miss something?

 

Still have one Sakura in the fridge that I've been holding onto for warmer weather. Guess it's day has finally come. Really enjoyed that beer. My wife thought it tasted like the ocean though.

Missed out on Dune Fruit so I'm really hoping that one gets brewed this year.
