Inquisitor was oddly wonderful immediately after release. It took a decided turn for the worse in short order.

I think I still have a bottle somewhere...

I had my bottle shortly after release, and thought it was ok, maybe even good (it has been a while haha), but not great. Idefinitely didn't hate it. So I was a little confused when everyone one was like "This is hot garbage!" later on.

It was 2014 BA Moloko and 2014 Conquistador. Blue wax.

I actually typed 2014 first, but then convinced myself it was 2015 and edited it. Should've trusted my gut. Oh well. Point remains.

I'm shocked no one is mentioning Stay Lit by FFF. Was a damn good IPA with tons of pineapple and citrus flavor.

Plenty of mention of it in the Chicagoland NE IPA thread. Forbidden Root has been crushing it lately, and this collab with FFF was the best offering yet IMO

Completely agree with @Bbear comment. It's hot! If you like more booziness then open it now. I liked it but I wouldn't have minded if it was a bit more mellow.

Anyone see a bottle count on all variants? I thought it was posted somewhere but cannot seem to find it

Search the thread for "bottle count" and you'll find this.

Assuming I'm not worried about infection, is there any consensus when the sweet (pun not really intended) spot is for opening a Handjee? I tend to subscribe to the wisdom that regular DL needs to sit for a couple years, but I had year-old BADL last year at DLD, and it was perfect. I've never had a bottle this "big" and I'm sure I'm overthinking it, but I'm certainly willing to listen.

Wow. I haven't seen someone give out that many handjees since high school....

I did a vertical of '09-'15 regular in 2015 and thought the best was in 3-3.5 years. Just what my group of 4 agreed on.

That downward turn came very quick. I'd actually like to revisit it now.

I'm not a fan of "dank" hop flavor, so I passed on this based on the name. Made an assumption that something called Stay Lit would target a dank profile.

I generally advocate for opening adjunct stouts fairly close to release, if possible. Or storing them at fridge temp (not cellar) if you can't.

As far as when to open it, well... summer is fast approaching, which isn't exactly idea 15% imperial stout time. Do you have a regular friends group/tasting group to open it with? It's delicious beer, but I wouldn't dome it yourself.

This is my problem, and yes it is a good one to have. My handjee is just begging to be opened, but I just can't do it until we get back to 50 or below.

Well it is still Spring, and you are in Michigan....so if you stay up late enough you could possibly drink it tonight

It will be fine when ever you drink it.

Drink it with friends you like spending time with. That's the best time to open it.

I've been creepin on FB and other places lately. So many people selling their variants. Chemtrail going for $500, Handjee climbing back up to that range or higher.
It's evident that there is a lot of people that go to DLD to make a few bucks. I've even seen people grab hundreds of dollars worth of Necromancer just to sell some and turn a profit.
To each their own but damn, there's a lot of them out there.

It's one of the few times you can get an extremely in demand bottle without having to spend anytime waiting in line, so You get people that have a bottle and will happily sell it, as the rarity means nothing to them.

Most times to get a crazy bottle, you have to stand in line, or win a lottery and drive 4 hours to the middle of Iowa. For DLD, you just buy a ticket to hang out with 10,000 other people.

I have a friend that sold his bottle on the spot when he walked out. He was floored by the fact that someone would pay $300 for a bottle of beer, and happily took it. He would get no more enjoyment out of the Ronaldo than he would drinking 2 hearted with friends on the porch.
