As long as the market exists for buying these products it will always happen. No way of stopping it.

I'm not trying to stop it nor will I shit on those doing it. I was just amazed at the amount of people that are doing it. Seems like more than previous years.

There's just way more "good/expensive bottles" this year. Last year fmv and vbdl were 1,800 give or take.

This year, they're 4K,plus another 1500 for chemtrail.

Given the large number of vanilla and the rockstar preformance of chemtrail it is easy to say over half the people who attended DLD this year got a grade A variant. Ronaldo is no slouch either and neither is bourbon. that only leaves the 1500 with muerte which I consider the worst variant of the lot even though a lot of people love it and the 180 scotch which I am sure can be traded or sold for just about anything due to the rarity. Frankly the only people that can complain this year are those who got vintages. That is 80% satisfaction and I personally think that is a pretty damn good number for such a large undertaking as DLD. Props to FFF for everything they did.

The high price I've seen thus far was... want to say $900 for a Handjee. It's unbelievable that some would pay that, but as you mentioned, to each their own. Oh, and this way on Craigs

I'm not surprised at the high price of DL variants nor the fact people are selling them. Their beer and it's their choice what they want to do with it. I just checked the price of what Handjee '17 is selling for and average price of 9 bottles sold so far is $685.11 (according to one site). I can understand different circumstances for people make them reasonable to sell.

Having said that, both my girlfriend and I drawing Handjees this year at DL, I (we, really) have zero interest in selling either of them. They are going to be special occasion beers for us and our friends. They are worth more than money to us. I wouldn't sell them if they were selling for a $1k each.

Handjee has been at the top of my want to try list for years, but if I came walking out of the brewery with one and someone offered me $1k.....man I would like to say I would no, but that is a lot of cheddar. That would be tough to turn down.

On site at DLD I doubt you could get more than $400 maybe $450. Online they do sell for $600-700. Only going to $1k for a Handjee that is at least 3 years old I'm guessing.

Much like many of you here, I find a lot more enjoyment getting the beer and sharing it. Just looking at what I have at home against what people with similar vintages etc are looking to sell, it could fetch a lot. To me, that's just not the point. Good beer with new and old friends alike is just more fun.
Last year at a family get together (about 12 people), I brought DL 12-15, Huna, double barrel Huna along with '14 prop. My feeling is I had these beers and sharing them was way more fun. They may never get another chance at some of these and lord knows, I didn't need to drink them all by myself.
Given how many and how fast after DLD people had their stuff up for sale, to each their own and I wish them well.

What did you think of double barrel huna? I recently tried huna and I may be a homer, but I felt Abraxas is better. I'm afraid I'll feel the same about DBH. I've had plenty of BAA.

Replacement report: My good friend's first DLD and long time FFF fan had his allocation stolen during DLD. He was pretty bummed and clearly went from having a great time to pretty quiet and just wanted to go home mode. I really hated seeing this and fuck you whoever stole his allocation. We replaced his entire allocation with 4 of us chipping in to hand him a tote bag with 4 x 17 DLs, 16 DL, & 14 DL! Only the right thing to do. Needless to say he was very happy we did this.

DBH was absolutely amazing--haven't had the pleasure of trying BAA though. Definitely prefer regular Huna over regular Abraxas though.

If someone has the huna I have the abraxas to do the side by side!

So, the consensus is now one of amazement that some people attended DLD solely in order to profit off of the sale of a variant? Count me shocked and amazed...

    Except, I'm not.

Just for "all palates are different" sake...I had DBH and was thoroughly unimpressed. I actually may have preferred regular Huna to it, although I only have had regular Huna once and it had 2 years of age on it. It led me to trade away the 2nd bottle of DBH I had for something else I might enjoy more. Never had the pleasure of trying BAA either.

While Huna is very good (obviously),I would take Abraxas over it all day. And as for coffee abraxas, holy hell!

Unfortunately have not had the opportunity at DBH or BAA so I can't comment there...

I know it's about as meaningless as all hell to speculate with these guys, but with the success of this year, can we relatively safely assume DLD will be on or around the same weekend as this year? Trying to plan a Spring trip to Yosemite next year, and if anyone's been to the major National Parks, you know that shit books up fast...

Bought my Handjee just outside of the festival from a guy walking back to his car. Offered $200 he said no, then offered $220 and he said sure. I was amazed and we were both pleased. That being said, I'm not flipping it. My wife and I will be having our first child in September and this will be my celebration beer to share with friends and family. Very happy to snag my favorite beer for the special occasion.

The resale this year is absolutely nuts The only variant selling at a reasonable price is Muerte, besides that people are selling the normal BADL at $450. Personally, I think it has gotten out of control.
