Just picked up a four pack of each from binnys on grand. $7.99 for dank meme, $9.99 for really dank meme.

They are fresh, fruity and fluffy. But I suspect, for many of you, they will be too dry :-) I love these beers, but I wouldn't drive 45 minutes through that sort of traffic to get them!

Thanks everyone for their feedback. I think I will go finally check out forbidden root this afternoon (called and confirmed stay lit is still on tap!), then grab a 4 pack of the dank meme from binnys, and stop at hubbards cave on the way back. Should be a good afternoon. Happy Friday to you guys!

Ooh. Good to know on stay lit. If still there this afternoon, I'll definitely walk by after work for happy hour.

Sorry if the information is already available in this thread, but I'm not about to read through 107 pages. You guys are prolific!

I'll be in town briefly on the night of the 23rd, heading into Indiana around 10pm. Then I'll be back (coming from Indiana) to catch a flight out of O'Hare home on the 31st, probably afternoon through evening.

Any recommendations on NE IPAs I might be able to pick up in my short window of time without going too far out of my way or waiting in line? Either breweries or bottle shops would work for me. I know it's a tall order, but any help would be appreciated.

Since we're mostly just posting when new stuff hits, you really only need to read the last couple pages.

In all seriousness, though, I'm telling you what I told the guy on the previous page--if you're going to be in Chicago proper, I would probably check in with Forbidden Root and/or Corridor to see if they've still got their latest on tap. There are various good NE beers hitting (or already at) liquor stores around here, but it's hard to tell what will be there by the 23rd. FR and Corridor have been pretty consistent the last few weeks in keeping something hazy on tap. IF Galaxy Bowl hits liquor stores next week, I'd put that on your list to keep an eye out for.

Also, monitor this thread for the next few days; we'll probably have updates on whatever has dropped/kicked/been put on tap; we are prolific, after all! :grinning:

Your best bet is coorodor and provisions in lakeview. They are draft only, but they have growlers to go. Forbidden Root will also likely have something on draft (definitely will on the 23rd). They are also draft only.

In terms of cans, it's really a crapshoot. Hailstorm brewing usually has a "cloud series" that's available and semi easy to find if they had a recent release.

Seeing as how I've never been to the taproom, is there much separation between bar and dining area? I'll likely want to grab some food on the 25th, but beer will be the primary focus.

No, not really. When you first enter there is a kind of dining section along the front windows. The Bar is then straight ahead situated in the middle of the room with the dining tables surrounding along with booth seating along the walls.
Sorry, don't know how to better describe it. :/

The bar is in the middle of the dining area (bar is in the center of the room). You can eat at the bar if need be.

I really thought about it as the B1 Galaxy Bowl was life changing. However, I can't justify an hour drive each way to buy one four pack, especially with HopButchers recent track record.

Thanks for the heads up on being dry - sold me on taking a chance on these.

And have to say the pricing is phenomenal, I've been bitten by way too many of these trendy beers att he $16 a four pack price point so it was nice to walk out of Binny's with 8 cans for $20.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I was more wondering if for an event like this if they were going to confine the neckbeards to a bar area and try to keep a distinct dining room for others who have no interest in the event, or if the place was going to be overrun. I've got a dinner reservation so I want to be able to sit and have access to the beers while grabbing a bite. So I don't want to screw dining patrons out of a seat, but I also don't want to miss out on any of the offerings.

I had the most recent batch last night and it was closer to B2 than it was to B1.

Not really an option. The place is much more a bar than a restaurant. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but the whole place is "bar area".

I don't know for sure, but my assumption was that since it's not a ticketed event, the place will be operating as usual, except with a special taplist (HAZE! HAZE! HAZE!). Meaning that it may very well be overrun by neckbeards, since they're the ones who will specifically be trying to gulp down every beer possible.

I'm local so I'll be there. Get off work 4 so I should be there a tad early.

The haze craze seems to bring everybody out these days. I think it depends on the taplist. If it's a lot of stuff that has already been released elsewhere, the crowd might not be too bad. If it's a bunch of exclusives or new beers, I can see this quickly becoming a complete mess. Either way, I made sure to reserve a table since we're planning on getting dinner there.
