That's some great info - thanks! Things in the beer world change so quickly - I lived in Richmond for 10 years (1998-2008) and my wife is from Powhatan, and I've never even heard of Final Gravity. Guess I need to schedule a trip soon to "visit the grandparents". ;-)

Case counts are high so I would imagine there will be plenty left at 6 or 7 but I could be wrong. Definitely get her to stop by the Answer for Crowlers. The guy told me when I was there they fill goses on Tuesdays as well. Their IPA and goses are awesome.

That's also some great info - I've tried some of their IPAs before, but never a gose. She visits Mekong/The Answer pretty much every time she's in Richmond, so I'll have her pick some up. Thanks for the tip!

Final Gravity is the hidden gem that does not get as much buzz as Tony deserves. Probably because they are in an area not a lot of people think about going. It's only about 4 miles from The Veil but not in the cluster of breweries in Scott's Addition or what most may consider conveniently off Broad St and downtown. Not walkable from other breweries really and out on it's own but I would most definitely put Tony's IPAs right up there with The Answer, Veil and Triple Crossing. He also typically has 10-12 beers available and does a variety of styles extremely well. Along with the beer people should consider it more b/c other than being closed on Mondays they open at 10am or 11am every day. Definitely great so you're not waiting for most others in RVA to open up later in the afternoon. Something better to do than waiting in line for several hours every Tuesday

People will always find something to complain about re: limits. Wouldn't be surprised if there are folks crying "I'd have made the drive if I knew I could have gotten 3 cases of each AND a crowler!!!!"

They have been doing a much better job with the limits. When they see a massive line bigger than they expected, they'll drop them. No one there today, they'll raise them. I personally like that. I'm glad that whole "we're done with limits" thing they tried late last summer didn't last long.

Been a while since I've been here on a Tuesday. Still a parking lot long line with no real relent in sight. Hopefully I can just drink a few and see a much smaller line!

Agreed. I drive 1.5 hours to get to Veil but I'm ok with whatever I get. It's obviously nice if I can haul a case or more back, but if more people can get the cans that's fine too.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. My wife was able to get there much earlier than anticipated. She got a 4pack of each option AND the CCAA crowler - my lucky day! She also sampled some of the other tap options and loved it. She said the various IPAs she tried (Master Shredder, whiteferrari, BBDD) reminded her of our trip to Other Half in January, but with more pronounced and juicier fruit notes from the hops. I can't wait to try it!

Total 435 cases sold. Right in line with average for a "non-hyped" 3 can release.

    Available today:
    ~Young Lions is a 6% IPA w/Simcoe, Amarillo, and Moteuka hops. (approx 115 cases. $14+tax/4-pack. 6x 4-packs per person) (115 cases sold)
~Eternal Shredder 8.5% DIPA This is the imperial version of our house IPA Master Shredder has (approx 55 cases $16+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person) (160 cases sold)
~We Ded Mon 11% TIPA w/Citra hops. This is the natural progression in our Broz series. (approx 35 cases. $17+tax/4-pack. 2x 4-packs per person) (160 cases sold) [I was curious, that's about 30% more We Ded sold on release day than last time, and it was 1/2 the limit this week. I think this used to be more of a sleeper but isn't as much anymore].

Limits are per person per day and are subject to change. The limits will drop if we carry any cans into Thursday. [I love that they do this, instead of "everything is no limit tomorrow" like they used to]

**Limits are per person, per day and are subject to change based on can availability**

Today, Thursday May 18th at 4pm we will be debuting our newest pilot batch called frostgod

frostgod is a concept created by our packaging manager/assistant brewer Josh(aka Jehou). He dreamt up with a double white IPA for this pilot batch. frostgod is essentially an imperial Witbier clocking in at 8% hopped liked a DIPA with Citra and Lemon Drop hops. Soft, no bitterness, tons of citrus character, hidden abv, and really elegant integration of esters from the Witbier yeast and citrus forward hops. This will be available on draft and limited quantities in crowlers.
(There will be approx 90 crowlers available. 1x crowler per person. $12+tax each.)

Anyone planning to go to next week's release, Black Heath Meadery (also in Scott's Addition) will be having the public release their collab. w/ The Veil on Tuesday as well. The Mazur Club members are able to gets theirs today as well as purchase up to 4 extra bottles. If you can't wait until Tues and not part of their club it sounds like they are still taking members. Not sure what the details are though.

Also reads like Black Heath will have it up on their website for ordering too the week after next.

Join ChurchKey on Sunday, May 21st as we pour 4 very special brews from our friends at The Veil in Richmond, VA.

Beginning right when we open at 11:30 AM, we will be pouring two beers specially crafted for The Veil's One Year Anniversary event in April, as well as two fresh, hoppy offerings.

From the Anniversary list, we are proud to serve the only keg of Vanilla Sleeping Forever, an Imperial Stout aged on vanilla beans, to have been shipped outside of the brewery, as well as a hyper-rare keg of Never Never Forever Forever, a Gose finished with massive amounts of Passionfruit.

Rounding out the list will be some kegs of Nice Relationship, an Imperial IPA with Galaxy, Mosaic & Equinox hops, as well as Broz Broz Day Day, a Session IPA boldly hopped with Citra.

There is no admission fee for this event. All beers from The Veil will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. tasting pours.

The Veil Rare Beer Feature Draft List
    - Never Never Forever Forever (Gose w/ Passionfruit)
    - Vanilla Sleeping Forever (Imperial Stout w/ vanilla Beans)
    - Nice Relationship (Imperial IPA w/ Galaxy, Mosaic & Equinox)
    - Broz Broz Day Day (Session IPA w/ Citra)

Did anyone else find the Vanilla Sleeping Forever way too sweet? It was almost undrinkable for me. I could see crystals (I'm assuming sugar) sticking to the glass as I swirled the beer around. This was a draft pour at the brewery.

I didn't see any sugar crystals or anything but I only had it at the anni party. Maybe it settled, different kegs etc. ? but it def wasn't too sweet for me, was my favorite beer of the day.

Good to know! That definitely makes me wonder about keg variation. I had it on Tuesday night at the brewery. I'm usually okay with sweet stouts. Never had an Andall I didn't like. This one just didn't seem quite right.

I had it on draft at the brewery last weekend and I didn't think it was very good. Too sweet and just not good tasting, the vanilla does not integrate well in my opinion. Definitely one of my least favorite beers from them.
