Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Just a heads up for anyone going to FR for Stay Lit. Just called and they're a few pours from being kicked.

 

Bartender just told me it should kick in an hour or two. Glad I made it in when I did. This stuff is ridiculously good.

Looks like I won't be able to try Stay Lit so I'm wondering what the etiquette is for re-brewing a collaboration beer. Can FR just brew the same recipe again whenever it wants? Would it have to, for example, change the name?

 

I'm only basing this off of one beer that is a collab that's brewed constantly. Emerald Grouper was created with PW and 4 Hands. Seems like that comes out a few times a year. So this could be brewed again with just FR.

Yeah, I was thinking about that the other day too, and this was the first beer that came to mind.

I'm sure there are other examples, but I'm drawing a blank.

I know Half Acre has done a bunch of collabs with 3 Floyds that I've seen on draft multiple times, but I don't think they had the collab designation after the first brew.

Hi folks. In town for the day and was wondering where I can find cans of Galaxy Bowl. I'll be having dinner at Giant this evening, so somewhere in the North Side preferably.

What's somewhat interesting is that it is supposedly going to be available at Ultra Fresh tomorrow. And the premise of that event is that everything has to be kegged or canned within 5 days of the event, so that would mean they did some sort of second batch right after the other. Of course, 3 Floyds could have been there to oversee/collab on that portion as well.

 

Galaxy bowl hasn't been distributed yet. I actually have dinner at Giant as well! lol

 

Ah thanks. I'll keep an eye out, as I'll be coming back into town next Thursday. In the meantime, any recommendations besides Stay Lit? If you see a Filipino dude wearing a Berkeley hoodie, holler!

 

This batch of Galaxy Bowl is on point. Much better than the second batch. Didn't have the first so can't compare. No Belgiany yeast flavor and nice soft mouth feel.

 

Just watched the Death by Snu Snu Futurama. Reminded me of Chicago... That's weird I know lol
