The last few years at dark lord day I've had the ice cream and enjoyed it. I want to experiment making different stout ice creams, has anyone done this with success? Does anyone have a good recipe, I wanted to start with Rue d'floyd from the Bruery any help would be appreciated.

I used to love to take aged renditions of Stone's Smoked Porter with vanilla ice cream.

Also, I never had it, but a buddy of mine who lives out west spoke of Big Sky's Ivan the Terrible with vanilla ice cream.

edit: however, only after I posted this, I think I realize you're talking about making ice cream with the beer. Hmmmmmm....I wonder what I just posted, how that would go in ice cream.

Great thread, if anything, ya got me

That's one of my fav desserts. I usually make double stout ice cream by this recipe. It's easy to do and tastes amazing. My kids are fond of ice-cream so I order special food container from here https://allinpackaging.co.uk/food-packaging/ to keep it in the fridge. Like to add dark chocolate also.

have had great success making ice cream with gun hill- void of light.
I use skim milk powder to counteract the extra water being added from the beer. (make sure you still ALSO use regular whole milk and cream.) add the beer at the end of the cooking process before you start cooling the mix. mess around with the ratio of skim powder to help keep it the right texture.

Here are a few recipes for Beer Ice Cream from our magazine, including one for Chocolate Stout Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Cups. Enjoy!

Not necessarily making ice cream with a stout as a key ingredient, but I have made stout beer floats, of which vanilla bean ice cream and Murphy's stout was my preference. It was tasty in its own right, but not a hit with other family members.

I use to put guinnesses or dragons milk in the blender with vanilla ice cream. Makes for a tasty milk shake
