I believe the latest batch was released on Good Friday, April 7

Agreed and it is still drinking very nice. I missed the first batch but this is a very good local IPA.

Did anyone else notice a difference in the new batch? It seems a little darker in color and more malty.

I just had this last weekend after seeing all the positive reviews. Maybe i got the new batch, but i found it very malt and underwhelming to say the least

@Roybert @Tommo Noticed the same thing, April 7th batch was a very dark copper color. Really ugly looking beer. A little bit too malty, still a good IPA though, def not even close to being juicy, as some others have mentioned.

I don't know about any dark, malty cans of this. But I will say it's not as good as the first release IMO. Not that it was bad by any stretch...but not as flavorful.

One thing I have noticed is this does drop off after about a month. Given the can dating I've found from April 7 - 10, it would be happening right about now, especially if the cans have not been kept cold, the hop oils will drop off even more quickly.

That is a good point. I hope that is the issue.

Shouldn't effect the color though. I think the batch is just off.

Maybe you got a bad canning? The color on mine was very similar to the first batch, with a taste profile closely matched.

@TX-Badger it's possible, but @Roybert mentioned something similar, as have some reviewers.

All anyone can go by is what they got. A few noted darker appearances, myself and a few others didn't. Clearly there is some inconsistency with the latest batch.

The cans I got from the Good Friday release were very good IMO. Then I had a growler last week that was very underwhelming. Had definitely turned the corner if it was the same batch.

Looks like this is year round now...very nice. Hopefully they keep to good distro to provide fresh cans and kegs! Don't follow Community's footsteps, Martin House!

I chased this beer due to what this thread was saying. I believe mine was dated 4/13 and I had two at about a week old. I couldn't believe I was having the same beer that was described in this thread. I had another a week later wondering if my taste buds were off the previous week.... Nope. It was a dark pour, with almost a purple tint. Barely any hops and a big caramel finish. I'm glad I'm not crazy.

Yea, you're not crazy. Lot of homers hyping this one as is usual with TX beers. I want amazing TX IPA's too, but it's just not a reality no matter how much people try to will it to be.

No, there are off cans. I've never had one. The first batch was a very good IPA. The second batch not quite as good, and obviously an issue with these dark cans. I would contact the brewery instead of tossing around insults and whining...but that's just me.
