2017 Westbrook Releases

Someone fill me in on the differences in batches

Batch 1 - draft
Batch 2 - first bottle run/date?
Batch 3 - ?

 

The first bottles were dated 5/5/17

 

Batch 1 - 5/5 - draft and bottle (first couple pallets at the brewery were b1 available 5/5-5/6)
Batch 2 - 5/9 - draft and bottle (available at the brewery 5/12-5/13)
Batch 3- 5/12 - bottled, maybe some draft, additional peppers added (available at brewery 5/9-5/10)

I know all 3 batches were bottled. I believe b1&b2 have been the only kegs to go on at the brewery. b2 has a lot more heat than b1. b3 is supposed to have more peppers added than b2, but I haven't had b3 yet.

 

5/12/17 bottle I opened last night didn't seem any hotter than the 5/5 bottles....
Detected some heat on both as they warmed but still nothing like draft or pre 16'.

 

Sorry maybe my pallet is having a off night but just opened batch 1 and it tastes like even more Jesus with a little pepper. Really don't remember it tasting like this.

 

First time I'm hearing of coffee cake. Is coffee cake bottled and distributed in SC? Or is it brewery only?

Also, anyone know of any place that still has some Mexican Cake left in the Charleston area?

 

Coffee cake is brewery only. Last year I think is was 2PP.
And Westbrook should still have regular cake left.

 

How often is key lime gose dropped? I have cans from two different batches, about 3-4 weeks apart I believe so just wondering how often it is is released

 

I think they have done two runs this year but could be wrong.

 

I can confirm Mexican Cake is still at WB as of about 30 minutes ago.

 

I am leaving for Hilton Head Saturday morning. Any places in or around the area have Mexican Cake? Is the brewery worth the haul from there?

 

Not sure about Mexican cake around Nags head but pretty sure Charleston is hours from there.

 

Haha shoot! I meant Hilton Head! I was in Nags head last year.

 

You should definitely be able to find some in hilton head I think. There a huge display of cases of KBS at the kroger there apparently so I think you can find it. Depends on how your coming but 2hrs from hilton head to charleston on 17.

In terms of heat...

5/9 bottling > 5/12 bottling > 5/5 bottling

The base is slightly different this year as some lactose was added to help thicken the body. It also adds some sweetness that counteracts the pepper heat though.

 

Wish I was in Charleston this weekend.

 

I'm really looking forward to Three Claw Saturday!

 

Anyone had it? Hoping to get a 4 pack soon. Really wish they were open 12-8/9 every day except monday.

 

Anybody know if this will see distribution?
