I agree. Its been a sweet bomb for sure, but I've never gotten the soy sauce note people complain about. And I've been drinking it since'08.

And...the cinnamon in Chemtrail was mild, not spicy or scratchy or hot like in some other beers. However, it seems there was plenty of it.

Thanks. I know Cinnamon has a huge spectrum. Gotta hit Spice House.

I think if you add cinnamon and raisin extract you'll be fine on the chemtrailmix....

Just a note, the green coffee bean if it still has the fruit on it acts like a sponge and is supposed to soak up pretty much anything. I brewed a pot of Blood Lord the other day and I got a solid bourbon flavor to it.

Really wish I could have tried it at DLD. It kicked right before I got up to order. Sounds like it had the right amount of a good cinnamon in it. I heard it described as tasting like cinnamon toast crunch.

Someone was passing a few cups around the BA/DA circle, I can't remember who but very grateful for it. I think that original Cinnamon Toast Crunch comment got noticed by literally everyone and their mother like the very day of DLD, and that's what made it blow up on the trade boards from that point. I don't think it quite tasted like that, but it definitely tasted 100x better than Temec, and maybe 10x more than Biggleswade, which was also on draft and I was able to hop right in line for it.

My mother didn't know about that comment but I obviously did. Hearing that I was like damn, I need to try it!

I had some from one of the food stands in the holding pen as cold brew and could definitely taste the bourbon barrel influence. Also, it was first thing and I had only had a few line shares, so this was a fairly sober and reliable observation.

I still think that this year's version is the most balanced. The sweetness has been toned down a lot. Last year I had it on tap at DLD and it was straight diabeetus. I opened one up at a share last summer and it was still very sweet. This year's is significantly different, in a good way.

If it tastes just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, go buy some cereal and save yourself the headache and costs associated with trying ChemTrailMix. This beer was tasty and interesting, but there is nothing complex about it. It's just cinnamon, raisin and sugar notes....

I'm by no means going out of my way to get it. In fact, I'm not even going to trade for it or buy it. I just want to try it. As you said "it was tasty and interesting."

I know it was mentioned somewhere in this thread asking about Todd Haug's influence on this year's batch & the improvements. From those in the know, does his arrival & the timeline of when FFF brews DL coincide?

I completely agree regarding this year's. Its less sweet and you get more of the typical roasty stout notes that haven't been as pronounced in the past. I was mainly meaning previous years (and just the beer in general), for an RIS, its still sweet.

No doubt. It is sweet for an RIS but i think that's part of the reason I like it.

I don't think anyone outside of FFF (3F) is in the know. I'll ask Todd and see what he says.

Shit. Which tap station was this? Of course I never saw it. And about what time was Chemtrailmix on tap? I dropped my bottles off at my car around 4:30 and passed out in the car for like an hour or so.
