Thanks to the distance from NYC, the taproom is generally mellow, so you should have no problems having a few pours and buying bottles and growlers.

Currently, the only food that I have seen are some delectable pretzels. In previous posts above, people have made restaurant suggestions in the area. Be forewarned, if you have Sprint, you will not have service up there so getting around will be difficult if you are relying on GPS.

Sloop is really close and I guess it depends how much time you spend at Suarez, but certainly both are doable in an hour and a half.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'm less interested in Sloop than Suarez. My plan was a pour, grab bottles and growlers, then run into Sloop for a growler fill or two (or cans, idk). Glad to know 90 minutes should be enough time. Definitely pretzel for this guy.

Hey, so I was looking into stopping in the Hudson valley area on the way back to Philly from Maine for a night. I definitely want to check out Suarez. Is there any particular town that I should be looking to stay in that would make the wife and kids happy as well? Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been asked before.

I usually like to find an AirBnB that is close to routes 9G or 9 when I take trips up there. They seem to be a better value than any hotels/bed & breakfasts I've come across. Hudson and Red Hook are two towns worth checking out. Both have restaurants and shops that should appeal to the wife and kids. Each is about a 15 minute drive from Suarez.

A trip north is in order. Does anyone know if the cherry beer is still around at the brewery? I missed out on that one.

$14 is what I have paid for most bottles. Very fair.

Walk Don't Run and Hecto, I could drink these by the gallon. And Backroads is so goddamned good. I'm so lucky to finally have a place like this right by!

Hey BarRoomHero, if an out of towner only had time to drop in and try one beer on draft, which beer would you recommend they order (with preference for something that distinguishes what they do there)?

    Thanks for the tip.

One of their pilsners, their helles (this would be my number one if on always), or one of their wild offerings if on.

Palatine Pils gets my vote. One of the best pilsners around. Would love to try their Helles sometime.

My recommendation would be one of the pilsners, or they currently have Backroads on tap, which to me is a fantastic representation of the "country beers" they're putting out. Enjoy!
