There is a difference between Surly and FFF. Surly's Darkness Day is run by kind people and great volunteers, so Darkness Day is fun. Totally oposite at FFF, plus Darkness is actually a delicious beer!

Another 6k+ will hit stores the week after as well. I believe 14k+ we're bottled last year.

Have you been to DLD? If darkness day had 6000 people, there would be tickets.

There is so much wrong with this I don't know where to begin. So much speculation and inaccurate information. There were lots of people who didn't get Darkness last year. In fact, if you showed up 4 hours before the gates open, you didn't get any. This isn't Founders or FFF. When Surly says something, they mean it. That probably goes for canopies during raining daylight hours.

Why won't there be enough Darkness on tap? They were surprised by the number of people last year, but even if it increases this year, I don't think it will catch them off guard. Don't come into the midwest forums with your great lakes world view and expect it to be the same.

PS, really bummed I won't be there this year.

Sunrise will be at 7:45 AM. I'd suggest well before daylight.

I disagree simply because last year there were WAY more people in line (hundreds) than there were wristbands and they did not change the allotment at all.

I don't quite understand the no tents/structures on Saturday thing. The way I first read it, I figured it was referring to Friday only, due to businesses still being open. As far as I'm away, none of the businesses in the immediate area are open on Saturday, so why the limitation there?

Quite possibly the business do not mind the poeple in the street, but do not like 38 tents on the lawn.

I'm guessing it has something to do with keeping people from congregating out side of Surly's property once the even has begun. They want to be able to control where the party is taking place.

It was really cute when one of the business owners showed up to mow the lawn on Sat. morning last year. First, he knew this was coming, plan to mow a different day or later in the day when the hordes are drinking. And B, when does a business owner mow their own lawn.

We are all talking common sense stuff here. Nobody is going to be bringing a 50x50 canopy for a party. Typical 10x10 canopy tear down is 5 minutes max with a couple of people. I can definitely see the limits on tents, it's not likely people are going to sleep under and open-sided canopy on the street, that doesn't get them much. I was kind of expecting that small canopies should be restricted to streets only to avoid the whole "on other company property" issue, but it looks like they just made a blanket statement to cover both. It's a bummer but either way, it's all good, i'll be there and looking forward to talking/meeting some more BA's.

Who needs to mow any lawn in MN the last week of October? The lawn we camped on was pretty close to dormant.

Sounds more like a business owner who wanted to keep an eye on his property without sending the message that he wanted to keep an eye on his property.

Anyone know if you show up late, say at 10am and miss the wrist bands, will they allow you to buy bottles when the extras go on sale in the afternoon?
