I just created this quick event; it's a preview of our upcoming "Blend Your Own" program where we'll invite a group to participate in a tasting and blending session for a sour beer.

Tomorrow, we'll have a limited amount of special flights available of 4 single barrel samples. We'll provide a worksheet with room for tasting and blending notes, and will be on hand to talk about the blending process generally.

Hope to see a few familar BA faces, cheers!

Or, if you shop at Gordon's in Waltham, unlabeled and rung up for 17 bucks. Sigh.

I've walked out of there so many times and been completely shocked by the receipt.

Good to see the range so far of Mass Rising $11-17.

Holy shit. That sucks. I went there last week and just ended up grabbing half priced Deciduous beers out of the discount cart. It was one of the only beers there that seemed worth it.

I got my MR at liquor junction in woburn if anyone is looking for it at the price I quoted.

Having one now. It's better than I remember it. I remember it having a soapy quality that I found kind of pleasant and offputting at the same time. Now I'm getting orange and pine with a little bit of a bitter finish that doesn't linger. Very nice

Yeah....came here to post about Mass Rising. I loved the 16.9 bottles when this came out like 3 years ago (also when JA started distroing in my parts) but these cans are just flat-out awesome. Nice floral/juice start into a nice, snap finish. Price isn't bad, like someone pointed out on this page, these guys certainly get it. Wicked Philthy was fantastic too.

The Saxony Lager seasonal is now out of season with the estimable Sunny Ridge filling that role, and I've found that these end-of-season Saxony Lagers seem to have developed a fruitier roundness to 'em that's really nice. I may have to grab a couple of the last stray sixers at the local packy.

I haven't had Saxony since it got released a couple of months ago....might have to revisit it.
Love the Sunny Ridge pilsner and still have couple in the fridge.

Take it easy on me if this is a stupid question. As I understand it lagers take longer to make than ales generally. Does the hop character fall off as fast in hoppy lagers as in the hop character in typical NEIPA's?

One could reason that hops are more prone to change in Lagers, as they take longer to make. Of course, there is late hopping. Nonetheless, one argument, for “shorter shelf life,” not only concerns how hoppy the brew is, but the brew itself. That is to say, hops fade/change quickly. However, depending on the brewing process (e.g. grain bill, hop bill, yeast, ingredients used), and care (e.g. packaging, treatment, storage) other aspects may twinkle in a more appealing way.

In sum, hops fade no matter what, but one style may be more welcoming to the change than another; the ingredients/aspects may strengthen more positively as the hops change.

Relatively concise, but more lengthy, technical, responses are welcomed. As well as, opposing POV
