As mentioned above, Jewel (grocery store across the street) is an option for grab and go. I'd say you're safe there even if having just one beer. I typically park there, but I'm usually just buying stuff to go. If you're nervous, just swing into Jewel to grab yourself a bottle of water, pack of gum or something...that way you can say you bought something.

That being said, the handful of times I've driven there for lunch or have a couple beers, parking has not been a problem. You may have to park a block or two away, but that is not a far distance in terms of Chicago street parking.

I wish I got married AFTER I got into craft beer.

Seeing as much as you post here on ba... I have to know what beers you plan to provide for your wedding reception? Haha

Given the (sadly) extremely low percentage of craft beer drinkers that'll be at wedding...probably just shit like Daisy Cutter.

Now...the days leading up TO and AFTER the wedding... *looks at cellar*

My wife thinks I'm an imbecile and lunatic (for more reasons than one), but I've been known to bring my own beer to wedding receptions.

Am I beer nerding it correctly?

I have done this a few times. Luckily I brought enough. It's amazing how curious many people are and how many new friends you have by the end of the night.

I always do this. I'm even bringing my own beer to my own sisters wedding next month.

Shit? Hell, I'd be happy if I go to a wedding that serves DC. For my wedding last year, we had DC, Two Hearted, Rosa, Eugene and Oberon (wife is from Detroit, so we kept an Chi/Michigan theme). Daisy was the first to kick (then Oberon). Both great low abv beers for all day drinking.

I can't imagine being such a neckbeard that I'd bring my own beverages to a wedding...

I didn't mean shit as in "it's shit beer," I use "shit" instead of "stuff" or "things" because I'm eloquent. :stuck_out_tongue:

In fairness, while I like DC, it's not something I'd usually buy, which is why I prefaced it with "just."

Unless it's a wedding of a buddy who is notably into craft beer I'd say you fall under lunatic.

Anyone try LA Looks? I can't imagine what an IPA made with coconut butter would taste like...

I had it yesterday, and yeah, tons of coconut + butter on the back end, especially noticeable as it warmed a bit. Quite sweet. Having said all that, I wouldn't get it again as that kind of coconut sweetness doesn't go well with an IPA, for me at least.

It had never occurred to me to do this, but now I think I'm going to do this for an upcoming wedding.

It's gonna be a hot summer with all these whiskers sprouting on my neck...

My question is what kind of neckbeard befriends people who don't serve good craft options at their wedding? :grinning:

I have pretty craft-handicapped friends, honestly. I try not to judge them too harshly for it (it can be a struggle).

But I also don't have a beard right now, and shave my neck even when I do. So...:stuck_out_tongue:

Just drink whatever whiskey they have if you're that worried about some non-whale beer touching your precious taste buds

    Geez people

See, it's funny that you make him out to be the jerk, when you are uptight about what a guy you don't even know is bringing to a wedding you are uninvolved in. And now, I got myself involved, so maybe I am a jerk too...
