My only issue with doing a monthly thread is the it seems (to me) that that would further complicate things (people posting in the wrong month's thread, etc.).

No, they get locked (with help of the mods) at month end for the new thread. Only one open at a time.

Ah, well, in that case I suppose it could work. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don't mind the rolling thread. There just has to be tolerance for some reposts.

I also vote to keep the thread going as is.
But I have to admit I check it a couple times a day so it's no problem for me.

I'm not advocating for a change, I just genuinely was wondering if there was a better suggestion out there. The biggest issue I see with changing it is that we cover so many breweries here, it would be a big task for someone to redo the list every month and start a new thread.

There almost just needs to be a page with a calendar and the local breweries, and it could be updated with what is being released that week/month

That's the thing. For people who read it everyday, the one thread is fine. But for someone who doesn't or is visiting the area, a monthly thread might be more manageable for them to read through. But who am I kidding, people seem to ask the same damn question that's posted right above theirs.

I actually think a monthly thread would make a lot of sense, but either way I'll be reading.

What do you guys think More Brewing will do for their opening? I'm hoping for a ticketed event to open up the new place and possibly a can release for those that get tickets. I'm also guessing they'll do a soft open like Mikerphone did for industry and friends/family.

I really don't like thhow idea of a ticketed event as I feel it's a turn off to the non-hardcore BA types. I think if you keep it wide open then you have a better shot at engaging the local community including non-craft drinkers. I think the Mikerphone model of opening would be a good one to follow. They don't necessarily need to even have to-go options the first week or two really.

If people really use the search function correctly (which clearly not everyone does), I don't see why it's that hard having one thread. At some point I suppose it will have to get cut off, but I feel like we're not there yet. However, I'm generally not a fan of locking down threads at all, unless there is a specific reason (insults, too political, etc.). I also don't think any brewery here does regular enough releases like Treehouse does every week to where it makes sense to have a monthly thread.

Has there been any confirmation (or even rumors) about whether they will bottle, can or both?

I was under the impression they were going to start off with just doing crowlers and growlers. But I could be wrong.

I guess if the objective is to make the overall size less intimidating, then a monthly thread makes sense. In practice all that's going to happen is now we'll say that something was already mentioned on page 3 instead of 103.

It's not like we'll all of a sudden not be talking about beers when they're announced and moving on from them quickly.

I definitely understand your point of view but I also hate to see people waiting outside the brewery all day to get in. It will be interesting to see what their plan is regardless.

Shaun strikes me as a smart guy and a smart guy would be canning and releasing new beers every week or two. Hopefully not just wishful thinking on my part.

was just in Binny's on Grand and there were a couple of beers from GRIMM there. Didn't see any of their NE style offerings (maybe I should have asked someone) but was surprised to see them. I didn't know they distro some stuff to Chicago ever? Is it a new thing to see their stuff out here? Is it possible we will see any of their NE style stuff out here?

I saw their stuff last week, and thought the same. Haven't seen any NE stuff, but certainly hope it makes its way here, since we certainly don't have enough NE beers. :grinning:

I shared your excitement seeing that Beer Temple photo. When I was in NY in March, you could find their NE beers on draft just using apps but the to go options are so limited (sometimes 1 can per person at bottle shops). I could be wrong but I would have to think they'd saturate that market first. Maybe we can luck out with kegs though?

Grimm bottles are distributed by Shelton Brothers, I believe, but the IPA cans are definitely not. I'd say there's no chance we see their hoppy beers here anytime soon.
