We're all jerks, so I'll chime in. Knowing how much planning goes into most planning goes into a wedding and how much money has been put into providing the guests a pretty fun experience, I think it's a bit odd to bring your own food, beer, wine, etc. Go enjoy the event as the bride and groom have put together. If you are really comfortable and close with the bride or groom, clear it with them first (and if you're buddies with the groom, make sure he cleared it with the bride ). Also, some event spaces will not want/allow outside booze to be brought in.

I wonder if Half Acre releases BHA this time of year in time for wedding season for all those people that do bring their own beer??? :grinning:

There's a good Timmy! meme in there somewhere.

:grimacing: This is the real story here! What's not to love about crushing hangovers and a day(s) of questioning your poor decisions you may or may not remember? What about whisky, like that?

Yep, me too! One of the great things about weddings, especially Chicago weddings, is the prolific amount of free alcohol for many hours - whether good or bad quality. I've never thought of bringing beer to the actual wedding. I have brought some beer to share with friends who travel in for before the wedding at the hotel or something. Not during, or after as by then it's typically a lost cause.

Back to BHA, I'll be up all next week so looking forward to getting some while up. Apparently we're getting some distro downstate, but I'll miss it.

I enjoy an open bar in all it's forms. It's a great policy to live by.

Also, BHA is the one chicago IPA I will totally go crazy for now that it's back in cans.

Open bar is a requirement for a wedding! Just a friendly reminder.
Bringing your own beer or food seems a bit weird. If it's one bottle to share with the groom who is a friend, like a bottle of pappy and some Cuban cigars, than it's probably ok. But if you are bringing a sleeve of daisy cutter cans to crush by yourself in the corner, that is probably weird. If you can't find something to drink at an open bar you may have crossed over from craft beer enthusiast to craft beer snob.

Thanks New Hampshire, but it's not an election cycle, nobody cares what your opinion is...

Sadly, this is me. I can't even go to bars anymore...at least until Fischman's opens...

I'm definitely a beer snob (I won't drink non-craft beer under any but the most extreme circumstances), but thankfully I will drink almost any hard liquor straight (especially bourbon or other whiskies). So open bars are usually a big win for me.

Nothing goes with a nice, cold Old Style like 108 years of losing...

I'd sue you, but it'd be for being a Cubs fan first and foremost.

I also don't think anyone here is surprised that someone with your avatar drinks Old Style. I don't drink it myself, but I know that it's the thing to do at Wrigley.

There's never not pbr in my fridge. Sometimes, nothing else hits the spot.

Sez the guy from Texas. Eh, I have no care in the beer at wedding argument but I am looking forward to a little BHA. One of the best I had a few years ago, before Trillium went and ruined most every other brewery for me.

Based on my single experience with Trill, you're better off heading to Forbidden Root or Corridor and leaving my precious BHA alone.

Sadly they've mostly gotten rid of it there, only 1 vendor I know of still sells it...

There are really only two situations I think are acceptable for drinking Old Style, and even then the second one is questionable- ball games at Wrigley or when you are going to die of thirst and the only other option is drinking your urine...

Before this fully devolves into DLD Thread Part 2, can anyone confirm that if I can't make it to HA before 5 on Friday I should probably just go home and get my BHA cans thru distro?

I assumed it would last until Saturday, but who knows.

Can someone remind me/us how GDDC went?
