The monsters was a really solid IPA up there with their best stuff. Guavashing Risck Rude was solid, resfreshing crisp and slightly tart, and not sure if anyone tried this batch of Lil Shimmy but they used Mosaic Lupulin powder in it which I thing added a little something extra - real solid, perhaps better than ususal...

Looks like Twin Elephant is kicking up their game this week.

JEDI MIND TRICKS: 9.7% triple dry hopped DIPA with CTZ, Citra, and Ekuanot lupulin powder. Our swan song on the old 2bbl system a dank banger resiny with notes of melon, berry, papaya, a solid bitterness and a clean finish sans booze heat.

SHARK BISCUIT: 5.9% Saison dry hopped Australian style with Wakatu & Motueka. Lemon citrus nose floral with hints of lime and a nice dry finish.

There was a comment from Twin Elephant on their Facebook post that the tags in the background of that pic were just for decoration, not the actual current beers on-tap. Although, I hope they do bring back Fuzzy Duckling soon. Really enjoyed that one.

stopped in early Saturday - 1pm-ish
tried the True Believers, Shark Biscuit and the Jedi Mind tricks. True believers was real nice, but I like the previous variation a little better.

Shark Biscuit was really good, lemon-lime thing going on with some Belgian yeast flavors, very refreshing and great summer beer.

Jedi Mid Tricks was awesome - different style, more west coast - great nose loaded with pine, dank and fruity aroma, super smooth balance and with nice bitterness on the finish balancing the malt and slight sweetness. Incredibly easy drinking for 9.7%. Reminded me a little bit of EGOIPA, but better.

How often does Twin Elephant carry cans, and are any available today?

Infrequently, and usually sell out that day (i.e. Saturday). However, I think Diamonds and Pearls might have lasted a bit longer. Also, they are trying to can more regularly, so you may see more “pop-ups”

can't wait to try these new brews tonight...

re: cans, there has only been 3 times to date - all selling out same day, and extremely small runs, but now that the 5bbl system is up and running I suspect we may see more, and more frequently... not other half or magnify frequently but maybe every other month? interested to see what they do.. first concern is probably having enough beer to last in the taproom for a weekend and offer growler fills..

They've canned Lil Shimmy twice and Diamonds & Pearls once. I know they were working on a new batch of Lil Shimmy with a tweak to it.

That's what the owners told me when I asked about. They don't want folks to feel they have to there at 4 O'clock on Friday to get a growler filled. They also would like not having to limit customers to just one 64 oz or 2 32 oz growlers.

I stopped on my home from work and grabbed a growler of Lexis. It is fantastic! I finished my growler Friday night with my brother and thought it would be great to bring to my buddies birthday party . Saturday around 130 pm Drove (over an hour) to grab another one. Knowing it was a great beer I figured even with one growler limits it might be gone so I checked the website before I left. When I got there the person behind the bar looked at my growler and kind of snickered. They said no growler fills but I could drink as much as I wanted on the premises. They told me they didn't update the website and typically don't.

Now if I arrive late for a limited release beer and they are sold out....well that's my fault. Arriving to find out they have beer but just won't sell it to me to take home is a crappy move especially if they don't change the post saying that it is available. Twin elephant makes great beer!but take their customers for granted IMO....

Honestly, send a message via their Facebook directly to Twin Elephant about your experience.

I will. The snickering behind the bar really annoyed me so I'm not confident they will care but will let them know...

the snickering is a little odd. I've had nothing but absolutely great (and professional) interactions with the people at TE. I do know that they frequently use different/new bar tenders depending on availability though, maybe it was someone new? I couldn't see it being one of the normal people.

also, just a sidenote -- their hoppy beers generally do not making it to growler fills on Saturday. It's a bit of a downer since I cannot get to their place until ~8PM on Friday or Saturday morning and it's rare they have growlers of their IPA/APA :slight_frown:

You got a growler of Lexis? I showed up at around 7 on Friday and didn't even get a pint.

If I was driving an hour to pick up 1 growler, I'd have picked up the phone and double checked, knowing how tight growler fills are at TEB, especially on the hoppy stuff. But maybe you're not familiar though. At least they are in the process of trying to have more beer for fills.

As far as the snickering, I'd imagine it was probably just the cherry on top of not getting your fill, but sounds like you might be blowing that out of proportion as a result. Did you look at the board to see if it was on fill before you asked? When I was at Funky Buddha and inquired about the Maple Bacon Porter, I got snickered at. I certainly didn't bury them on a message board as a result. I realized I should have been better informed and understood why it went down as it did. Didn't make it right in the first place, but I didn't get pissed either once I understood what had just happened.

Personally, I've had nothing but positive experiences with the staff at TEB.

I do not believe I "buried them." I stated that they make fantastic beer. I simply stated my experience. I have purchased beer from other breweries like Tired Hands, Magnify and Tree House. They all run out of beer quickly and use social media to update the availability. I have never had to call to check if the recently updated website was accurate.

That's not burying them? That they take their customers for granted cause you couldn't get a growler fill that hadn't been pulled from the website and don't understand why they wouldn't fill a growler when it's still on tap? I'm sure they didn't intend to inconvenience you.

TEB is a tiny, tiny brewery who is struggling to keep up with demand. You cannot compare them to any of the breweries you mentioned. They just expanded to a 5 barrel system from 2 barrels and that's still small. For reference, Magnify is the smallest of the ones you mentioned and it is 10 barrels with 20 and 40 barrel fermenters. Growler fills often change without notice at TEB cause they are trying to make sure they can keep their tap room open even 2 days a week, which is why if I was driving an hour to fill one specific beer, especially a hoppy one, I would have double checked knowing the situation here. As much as I wish I could depend on a fill (and so does TEB), it's just not the nature of this brewery right now. Like I said, you got a growler and I didn't even get a pint on Friday. You stole my pint. Haha.
