Founders Brewing Co. To Release Doom

Well..... yeah, you are still misinterpreting. But think what you want to. Cause you clearly didn't get the point.

 

It's hit Hampton Roads... just scored 6 of them at bottleBOX in Norfolk. Really looking forward to it.

 

My regular store only got 1 case of Doom and 25 cases of KBS. No complaints there, dislike Doom very much.

 

Picked up a few bottles today excited to try this one

 

She's hot for sure. I bought two to see if it mellows

 

Reportedly our distributor has had it for about two weeks but is sitting on it for some reason. Several times I've had it from a good source that it was coming out on a specific day - today was the latest - and nothing. I could see this if there was a decent quantity and they wanted to let other new releases play out first - but this is going to sell out right away...

 

Drinking my first bottle right now.

As someone who has never cared for hoppy barrel aged beers...I am really enjoying this one. I should, however, note that I am already a couple beers in before trying this one.

 

I'm still on the fence as to whether I want to try this one, but, is Founders ever going to add it to the Beer Finder or am I going to have to hunt for it? (They didn't put Frootwood into the finder until it was sold out locally... At least we got an abundance of KBS this year so I didn't need to worry about that one.)

 

Picked up a single bottle yesterday, glad they split up the 4 packs as there's probably little chance I would've bought a 4 pack. Interested in trying it though, just not a style I usually love.

 

You have to check the local stores' social media accounts, instagram, twitter, facebook, etc if they post new releases. That or call them and ask the beer manager if they got it or when they are getting it. Those beer finders aren't reliable.

 

Well ended up not really enjoying this one at all. I found it really hot for my tastes, not really sure when I would feel like drinking a beer like this. Swing and a miss for me.

Finally found some this week, I am overall quite satisfied. I felt like when had cold, Doom reminded me of fresh Double Trouble with a bit more of a kick. As it warmed up I could taste the bourbon but it was still a bit boozy. Regardless, this is a steal at 15/4 pack.

 

Finally scored a couple of bottles. Two thumbs up!

 

I wasn't a big fan 4 years ago but who knows now?

 

I tried it, and no surprise that I did not care for it as I'm not an IPA fan. But if I were, I believe it would be pretty good. It was as weak on barrel taste as Frootwood though.

 

Is anyone going to cellar this? I bought a 4 pack today and was thinking id drink 2 now,another at 6 months and 1 a year from now

 

Yea. I just bought a single about a week ago. Liked it a lot. Stumbled on another 4 pack while grocery shopping so I figure I'll age 2 for simple curiosity.

 

I enjoyed one of these last night. I'm not a big IPA fan so it was curiosity and trust in Founders to see how the barrel aging would work. Three to go and aging seems counterintuitive. I agree that the barrel taste is understated but considered that a balanced plus.
