I don't believe anyone on here has been given an offer to host a TV show doing such

My only complaint about the show is the amount of social/political justice that is injected. With the amount of polarity in the country today, I just wish people would let beer be beer and not a vessel to voice divisive viewpoints.

Imo: beer is social lubrication that should unite people of all color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, political ideology, socioeconomic status, etc. Beer is community, for the whole community. Breweries/places that center around beer should be hubs of growth, learning, sharing of ideas.

More inclusiveness and community, less lines in the sand.

But then @Wasatch will become nauseous whenever he encounters homebrew.

In this podcast, Meg was accused of bringing an ABI beer for the blind tasting. She said "f*ck you" to John Holl (of All About Beer & other great writing) for saying that, seriously pissed off, not joking. Then her 2nd blind tasting beer is Vanilla Porter from Breckinridge (ABI)! That's why I dislike her. I haven't watched her show.

Aside from the obvious motivation of creating more brand awareness for Golden Road, I think this show has a secondary goal of steering a portion of the Viceland audience to trying out homebrewing for the first time.

And where are they likely to turn to for those supplies on the internet? You guessed it, one of their other recent acquisitions, Northern Homebrewer.

    Profits all around!

My first experience with this show was the other night. I watched final 3 episodes of the season back to back. My main takeaway is that Meg is a huge tool. If she was a guy she would have a neckbeard.

But I won't lie, I thought the concept of the show and the prize of getting your home brew canned at Golden Road is pretty cool. Even if it is just a ripoff of what Stone did with Xocoveza.

Jeff, it appears that Meg Gill got her start in the beer industry as a Sales Rep:

“She began her career in beer as a regional sales manager for Oskar Blues Brewery…”

I don’t know Meg but I have met a number of brewery Sales Representatives that work the Philly beer market and all of those folks have been very knowledgeable about beer. Many (most?) are Cicerone Certified: that seems to be a big thing now?

    Cheers!

Yes it is, it is popular with the front of the house people. Some breweries are encouraging it.. If you search different levels, you can find some familiar names.

The are only a few Master Level Cicerones. Hey, one from ABInBev High End, Two from Tenth and Blake. So even people at large breweries see value.

It's almost like a beer show for people that don't anything about beer but still doesn't teach them anything either...yeah I don't like it.

I watched all of the episodes today. I honestly think it should be less focused on homebrewers and more focused on beer itself. Very non-educational, though still a bit fun to watch.

I have taken the first test and passed. Which qualifies me to take the Cicerone exam. Which I'm confident I'll pass. But to sign up for the test it is around $400 and does a tour of major cities. So for somebody like myself I'd need to pay around $500 to drive to NY or Philly on the chance it comes around. It's in Philly this month. and have gas, food and price of the test admission and while I'd love to do it, i simply can't throw down that $$ for a chance at a brewery job especially since I'm in NJ, the breweries are mostly small business not needing the help. I hope more people learn of the Cicerone and maybe at some point the company can drop the price a bit so us less fortunate can have the opportunity. But otherwise, I think it's great that people are in general doing it so there's actually backed up credential behind our hobby/ career of choice. A downside only being I've been turned down a job at a upstanding local brewery for other workers who do not have the certs that I do relating to the job. It seems only huge brewers really care about this classification.

    Cheers.

So far, after 2 eps. I agree about less focus on homebrewing, but I would not mind trying the brew with the log.
