I have a big commercial Pepsi fridge in my garage that I use to cellar my beer.
I have a temp controller hooked up to it and it keeps my fridge around 55 degrees. Its starting to get cold and soon my garage is going to be in the 30-40 degree range. I plan on getting a fermentation heater or FermWrap as some call it and taping it to the back of the fridge to heat the fridge during winter.

My question is, will one be enough to heat a large fridge to 55 degrees or should I get two and tape them to the sides of the fridge?

    Thanks

Do you have a 2 stage temp controller for the fridge or a 1 stage?

I would use a 2 stage and let it take control. Otherwise its trial and error.

I have a 1 Stage but it can control a cooling source or a heating source. I only need to hook it up to a heating source for the winter.

so you are going to use your cooling to counteract the heating you are adding?

I would get a 2 stage and sell the 1 stage or just leave the fridge open. you sure its going to get down to 30/40 IN the garage?

No, I will not be using any cooling source. The garage will be too cold as it is and will cause the temperature of the fridge to be at too low of a temperature. I'll hook my temp controller up to a FermWrap in order to bring the temp inside the fridge up to around 55 degrees. I was just trying to gauge whether one FermWrap would be enough to do this.

Aaaa I see. I think we would need more details about the size of the fridge.

    Something like this?

I have a fermentation chamber in my (unfinished, unheated) basement that's about 24 cu.ft. with 1.5" foam insulation. One ferm wrap has been sufficient to maintain ale fermentation temperatures.
