I should have qualified my original post to reflect just IPAs. Agreed when you factor in the Non IPAs. I am a huge fan of
Seems highly unlikely they would blow thru 150 cases today.

feel like today might be miserable day to pick up cans with the heat. the small tap room and the understaffed bar. between growlers, cans, and pours. the wait is like 4-5 minutes every couple people. if they don't have a second area set up for cans it could be a hot mess.

Count me in the camp that prefers OH over Trill (regarding hoppy beers) I've found most Trill iPAs have a dry/harsh bitter finish going on lately.

Currently a line. Extends just past their driveway. Hot out. Moving but not quickly.

The only thing I've heard is that DDH cabbage is making a return... could that mean....

Hey all, gonna be in NYC the weekend after next, and conveniently the girlfriend has wedding shower/bachelorette party shenanigans all that saturday, leaving me free to do what I want. Id love to swing by Other Half for the can release, but no idea how these work... do I generally have to show up early to get any cans? I don't care if I don't get everything released that day, would be happy with a couple 4 packs of whatever is left... but I also dont really wanna line up at the crack of dawn.

Thanks for the help in advance.

you have the right idea, then. as of the last couple of weeks stuff has lasted into the next day, if not all then most. worst case you could settle for fills in the tasting room. people seem to hit the shore during the summer so it might explain the cans lasting longer the last couple of weeks. have a great trip!

I agree that I prefer OH Ipa's over Trillium. But they have not mastered another style to say the least. I think every brewery around Brooklyn is taking this model and doing great IPA's to make a name, but I'm looking for a brewery to specialize in stouts like a Jackie O's, Cycle, etc. I'd say Finback does the best but doesnt do them enough.

If all they do is make great IPAs that are somewhat obtainable, I could live with that! 3.5 years ago this area was a wasteland for local IPAs. Now we are awash in them.

Get there at around 11:30 or so, you should have no line and depending on the release get some cans. Odds are in your favor, especially if they do a double batch of something.

So how crowded has the taproom been on weekdays lately? Thinking about heading there after work on Tuesday if cans are still available but haven't been there on a week night in a while. Probably get there around 6:30....

Space diamonds is tasting like slightly overripe cantaloupe right now. Enjoying it.

    Should be manageable

How are you having trouble finding great beers besides IPAs in the area? Not all NY area breweries are boutique IPA focused.

I prefer Trillium over both OH and Tree House. Trillium IPAs offer tremendous variety and the quantity control and consistency of Trillium is incredible. The stouts and sours they offer are fantastic as well. Night and Day remains one of my favorite coffee stouts. I may be old fashioned, but OH single hop mosaic may be my favorite OH IPA. I don't really need DDH anything and all the collabs aren't that interesting. Still can't wait for OH to open it's new taproom, I'm a big supporter and will definitely swing by often.

Which one puts out mostly sours or stouts?
