Darkness Day 2012... No camping out?

last year there were a few porta-shitters right across from where we were camped towards the front of the line near a small parking lot. Shouldn't be an issue.

 

IIRC there were a ton of portapotties outside the gates for people in line.

 

If I recall last year Darkness went on sale in stores the following Tuesday. Can anyone confirm or deny this? And should we expect the same street date?

Does anyone have any advice for a first-time attender/overnighter? I plan on arriving plenty early, bringing a lawn chair, some work, and some interesting beer(s) to share with those nearby/passing. I figured I'd just snooze in the chair as I got tired... Is a tent immensely recommended or, perhaps, required given the climate this time of year? Glad to hear there are ample porta-johns nearby; I hate having to catheterize myself for overnight events (joking). Thanks in advance!

You should be fine. No camping this year....even last year, there weren't all that many sleeping in tents. It sucks because it'll be cold and you'll be drunk and cold and tired, but it'll make tasting the Darkness and all the casks that much sweeter come Noon on Saturday.

 

Do anything possible to stay warm - it will be cold at night!
If you are going alone, make friends w. the people in line near you and all should go well. We bring a canopy with walls and a very large heater - if you see us say hello and we will share our shelter and beer.

 

just try not to pour beer on one of your friends in line for the cask offerings.

 

Pfft yeah. That's grounds for getting curb stomped.

 

Each of the last three years had rain in the forecast, but we were bypassed. Still, you should take a hard look at the forecast, and plan accordingly. If it's going to rain, I'm pitching a shelter, at least.

your kinda of close. She made an egg bake that had 2 dozen eggs, bacon, cheese, and biscuits. So, maybe??? I might get crazy and do it myself this year and whip out chorizo burritos.
