They couldn't possibly move the line that fast. It was probably a BS report intended to keep people from showing up (I don't mean by you).

Anyone in Charlottesville this weekend, Veil will be making its first appearance in the area at the downtown tasting room of Potter's Craft Cider. Beers will be on tap beginning at 4pm today lasting all weekend or whenever the kegs kick. Never Scared will be tapped at 4pm and then Old Old Lion Lions will come on at some point over the weekend.

Other breweries showing up for the first time at the event include The Answer, Ocelot and Commonwealth.

4 cans coming this week. Don't forget this week is also Third Thursday w/ their first Gluten Free beer...
    _____________________________________

Potato Napkin (DEBUT) is a brand new 8% DIPA hopped heavily with a 50/50 blend of one of our favorite hops Citra and the almighty Simcoe. This is not an actual recipe blend but the end result is very reminiscent of Broz Night Out combined with Cat Boy. If you dig either of those beers, you will def be into this one.
Shooting for 195-220 cases. $16+tax/4-pack. 6x 4-packs/1x case per person

eyelidz (DEBUT) is a brand new 8.5% DIPA with an incredibly unique hop blend. Hopped equally/excessively with some of our favorite Southern Hemisphere hops Nelson and Enigma, as well as some rad American varietals that we have been digging lately, Lemondrop and Mosaic. Bright lemon peel, fresh grapefruit flesh, musty white wine, subtly dank, and V soft. One of our favorite new DIPA's we've released in a while.
Shooting for 200-230 cases. $16.50+tax/4-pack. 6x 4-packs/1x case per person.

Boss Man (RETURN - first time in over 8 months) is back and better than ever! Boss Man is the pinnacle of our sour IPA office series. Clocking in at 8.7% this kettle soured Double IPA is just insane. ABV is extremely well hidden as it drinks more like 6%. Hopped intensely with Citra, Simcoe, and Amarillo. This is just straight up sour juice and cray.
    Shooting for 95-115 cases. $16+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person.

IdontwanttoBU (RETURN - first time in over 5 months) is our 6.9% 0 IBU IPA hopped intensely with Citra and Mosaic hops. Jam packed with a citrusy hop-forward flavor profile, INSANE aromatics, and ZERO bitterness.
Shooting for approx 210-230 cases. $14+tax/4-pack. 6x 4-packs/1x case per person.

    *LIMITS SUBJECT TO CHANGE*

    Third Thursday - June 15th

** Crowler counts to be announced later this week I would assume**

We'll be releasing Bird Food, a millet and quinoa gluten free IPA. This one we did with Brittany Mullins of Eating Bird Food. In support of a healthy and active lifestyle, at 6p there will be Rooftop Yoga with Michelle Landon of One Drop Yoga ( donation based) and some snacks after class.

There will be a raffle with donated items from Strictly Soccer Soccer Shoppe and a special 4-pack. All proceeds will go to Richmond Conexiones.

Kinda bummed that the double cherry gose isn't out this week, but then I hear my
bank account calling. Sounds like some good stuff might be in there though, or at least better than last week.

Their 8-9% DIPAs are really starting to run together for me. I also think its dumb to brew an 8.7% beer and sell it as "it drinks like 6%". Why not brew it at 6% then? 8.7% is still 8.7% and its going to get you fucked up if you drink more than one of them. I'm glad they at least occasionally have a lower abv offering, but I would still like to see more variety and creativity from them. The constant stream of 8.5% DIPAs is starting to get old to me.

That was my impression when I first went there and has started to come back to me. But I'm a sucker for juicy IPAs and DIPAs and only buy 1 4 pk max of something unless I'm on a trip. I usually only make the trip for Horns, double goses, and collabs though. Agreed.

I got back and forth on this. I appreciate it, but I wish they'd focus on a few more with more regularity. Like once a week release at least 1 can that's pretty standard (MS, CT, Idont) then work in the experiments, fine. On one hand, this gets us things like Dirt Nap, White Ferrari, We Ded which I love and do come back. It also gets me things like blackivy and Frozen Ocean which I've adored but may never see again.

I'm really intrigued by Eyelidz though and the Idont series is my favorite. If I could get there this week I'd spend way too much money so probably for the best.

No, people bring kids, although I'm not sure if an older teenager would be allowed in or not.

@doublevision I think as long as the kids are with an adult / parents then any age is fine. The Veil has several garage style doors that open up into the parking lot / outdoor seating area so large space to roam about. I do not think, however, that they have snacks (other than whenever they have a food truck) and drinks for kids so be sure to bring your own.

Kids at breweries is a hotly debated topic by patrons in this area as I'm sure it probably is where you are as well. Either people are fine with it or completely against it. I personally have no problem at all. Just ignore them and enjoy yourself. As long as the kids are well behaved and the parents are parenting not letting they kids run all over the place screaming then the more the merrier.

They have Charcuterie ;-) No they really don't have the most kid friendly environment (no board games, no outdoor games) but I'm really okay with being able to go to a taproom and not have to watch people play cornhole or hear screams when a Jenga tower falls. As where some places (i.e. triple crossing) have a nice outdoor area for kids to run around, Veil doesn't really - just a parking lot. But as long as they behave there is no problem bringing them.

All 4 cans still left going into today (WEDNESDAY). I would expect Boss Man to sell out today and the others be available at least until Thursday and probably some make it to Friday. From the comments I read and people I know who went yesterday it sounds like eyelidz was the sleeper (no pun intended) winner of the day.

We have two boys ages 7 and 9 who we've been bringing to breweries since they were babies. In this technological era hanging out at breweries/restaurants with kids couldn't be easier - ours have iPads and headphones, we just hook into the WiFi and they are quiet for hours. We were at the Veil last Thursday and had absolutely no trouble with them. They had a food truck sandwich too. Just have to bring your own kids' drinks.

That being said, a special note of appreciation for the Triple Crossing Fulton brewery - that place is easily the best set-up for families I've ever seen. A comic book reading corner, pizza, an arcade, bocce, cornhole - we didn't have to resort to iPads the entire time. My family loved it there.

If you ever head to Waynesboro (about 90 minutes west of RVA) be sure to check out Basic City Beer. On top of the really good beers the building they are in is huge and they have a completely separate indoor area, connected to the main tasting room, that has a pool table, foozball, skeeball, shuffleboard, ping pong, pinball machines, a couple arcade games, cornhole boards, 100" projector screen with TV connected. They even have an outdoor area with hammock garden of 5-6 hammocks with umbrella's over them. One of the most unique (and family friendly) breweries I have even beer to.

Glad to hear that kids are allowed. We are driving from IL to OBX for vacation and wanted to stop by Veil and Hardywood to check them out and hopefully grab some beer for the week.

I completely agree with this. It's been over a year and they still have no consistency in releases. Plus, batches of their so-called flagships (CT and MS) still tend to vary each release. One would think after a year they would have the recipes dialed in. A true flagship should have regular availability to it. It's nice for them to release new beers and new names of beers but in reality most are a variations of something else at this point. Sure, it builds hype and anticipation when a debut comes out but it really would be nice for CT and MS to be more regularly available. Maybe every 3 weeks or at least one per month.
