Why the hell do people go so crazy over a glass? Its honestly pathetic. An IPA doesnt taste any different out of a teku than it does a tulip, pint glass, snifter, protein shaker, etc. yes I know how glasses help perceive taste better based on their shape, I've been brewing for 8 years. However if you really think teku makes an IPA taste so much better than a snifter that you would pay $15 for it and line up you're delusional. I would love to see OH release 3 pilsners, not dry hopped, and a teku to see what the turn out would be.

At $15 a pop with people maxing out on glasses, if I owned a piece of the action I would see this as an unbelievable thing :grinning:!

Given the last couple releases, I'd say it's likely that you can walk away with some cans. Hopefully their new taproom is open making it more comfortable to have a few.

Fills and chill are REALLY hit or miss but not likely. You can definitely get some fills (be sure to follow their growler guidelines, no swing tops, metal, etc), but chill can be hard to come by in such a small and loud space.

If you're lucky, the space next door will be open by then!

Hey folks, just a question about Saturday for the Other Half veterans . With the addition of the glassware is it more likely that more people will show up and the 3 beers will be gone by early afternoon?

More people show up, yes. Gone by afternoon, not necessarily. With them doing a double batch (supposedly Suparillo) this week the last couple of weeks have dictated that one lasting if not another in addition.

Has nothing to do with how a beer tastes in the glass. It all comes down to how few are made and how much people can flip the for. That's why people were buying them all up last time they were on sale and OH reduced the amount one person could buy in the following weekends.

I know broccoli tekugate was a nightmare - but last time was fine no? I went in the early afternoon and got some of the few remaining Ain't Nothing Nice cans (they were down to about 5 cases of that and all other beers sold out), and if I remember correctly, they still had cheddar tekus for sale (which I didn't buy).

So can't see how the glasses this weekend would have a major effect. Maybe if/when Broccoli glasses are re-released it could be different - possibly there's a correlation with the beer rating. Who knows how some people's heads work.

Guessing the single batch nature of DDH Broccoli will be the driver for however this weekend goes.

I don't even think they look that cool.

If the paint on the glass was shiny like it is on the can, that would be a different story.

When the Cheddar Teku was released, I was able to buy them when there was no line. I agree that DDH Broccoli will be the main driver for those showing up on Saturday.

With that said, I also agree that it's not about how the beer tastes out of the Teku. Maybe people like to collect Tekus, there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Some people will want to finish the set unless they decide to create a cheddar / broccoli version. Others will certainly flip them for a profit but that's nothing new at this point.

A beer glass with cabbages on it. To enhance the DMS, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Murphy's law says this release will now be terrible. But this glass makes me think more about Cole's Law. (Cole's Law of course being thinly sliced cabbage).

Agreed. I thought the Broccoli teku was pretty sweet, but the other two are beyond meh. I guess I don't really get the hype for glassware, but to each their own.

I'm going just for the beer on saturday... planned trip already with some friends..

is the glass going to make this worse then i initially expected?

we are hoping to grab some beer then head out to to get outside and drink it in the afternoon... is we arrive at 8am.. would this get us out in a reasonable timeframe?

If you arrive at 8 I think you'll be out no later than 11, probably even earlier.

The issue with the glass isn't so much that more people show up for it but that it slows down the line because its 1 more thing people need to decide on and for the employess to grab. You'd be shocked by how many people get to the front after waiting in line for hours and don't know exactly what they want. The more choices, the slower the line.

Yup, One time I was in line for about 2 1/2 hours and the guy in front me asked an employee when it was his turn to order "So, what's being released today?''

Unfortunately people just can't drink beer anymore. Everything has to be a collectible "comic book" mentality where everything has to be attained to complete the afficianados collection. If you look at the secondary market groups where people are now razzling growlers of beer you can see how ridiculous this is getting. A growler razzle? Really? You mean to tell me $h1tl0rds have to now commoditize a growler fill? Just drink the beer and enjoy it people. It also doesn't help that breweries are now catering to this mentality with multiple labels for one beer and producing limited numbers of glasses. There's absolutely no reason Other Half or any other brewery couldn't order enough tekus to have in stock all the time. Is the ink rare? Can vegetables only be printed on tekus? We're just feeding the beast at this point.

Does anyone know if there are still cans around, for today's opening?

Actually spoke to someone last weekend who lives right next door. Says he loves it (as a beer drinker) but the noise gets ridiculous (on hyped releases), the noise dies when the line starts to move. He said trash is awful but thankfully the people next door at the recycling center take all the cans and bottles

however, miscellaneous trash like coffee cups and food stays, and he says there's a ton of it, which we all have seen

edit: oh hey I'm a celebrity! (i'm in these pictures they took of us)
