Twin Cities Bottle Hunt - 2017

Has anyone seen "Brewer's Tears" by Cold Spring (Third Street?) around the Cities? I thought it was supposed to be in distribution by now...maybe it's just slowing working its way down 94.

 

I grabbed the last one in the cooler about 40 minutes ago. IDK if they have more in the back; I didn't ask since it was "limit 1".

 

Probably most will not be interested but Vintage in Chanhassen has Troika a Schram Brewing barleywine aged in J Carver bourbon barrels. It is a Vintage exclusive. Sits at 14.6% ABV and a 750ml goes for $19.99. Have not tried it yet but I have liked their previous barleywines. They lean towards the hoppy and boozy American end of the spectrum.

 

Any recent Junkyard crowler sightings?

 

Distributor is really dropping the ball here in MN. Same batch of DDH Sue I picked up in Hudson 5/11 are just NOW hitting shelves in MN? Over a month?

You guys should base your preferred store choices by who chose to not carry Zima.

Just bought a bottle at Surdyk's and it lacks a date.

 

Not uncommon at all. I love Pompeii but haven't seen a bottle with a date in months, so have been avoiding those I have seen.

 

Most likely 05/11 BO date , its hard to see most times, and as others have said it also rubs off.

 

None of the bottles that we had at my store were dated either.

 

They are all dated you really have to look.

 

You are correct, and they say 5/18. Damn though, that is the faintest dating I've seen on a bottle.

 

Still thou its 4 weeks (5/18 )old and the 5/11 that other stores received are 5 weeks old.

 

It really is hard to see. I stood at a store staring at a bottle to finally figure out it was from march.

 

Pardon my answer to my own question here - TW Roseville had Beer Camp - maybe six to ten packs on the shelf, probably more in back. They also had several cans of Rum King.

Stinson had a case of 2014 Loonidragon on the floor - at least three more bottles left in there. Looks like they're clearing out some dusty old stock.

Both places had the "old" bottles of DDH Pseudo.
