Yeah, I got to -tion night like an hour before it started and there were no seats anywhere. Absurd, but so worth it.

The RateBeer thing was a beer pairing dinner up in Napa. I think people were turned off because when the tickets were on sale it wasn't clear what beer would be there, plus it was like $100 per person and up in friggin' Napa. But the beers ended up being great, and they had more than they served so they let you take some home. Got 2 Births of Tragedy that way.

I think I'll end up at Toronado more often this year now that it's not a 1.5-hour trek to get there from my apartment.

Best event other than -tion night for me was the first Saturday night at Beer Revolution. They still had most of what Deschutes had served the night before plus a bunch of amazing Lost Abbey and Firestone Walker stuff. Things I'm sure I had (I had too much, and it was the worst night of the week for me), all on draft:
    -- '10 Dissident
    -- '11 Cuvee de Tomme
    -- Deliverance
    -- Lost Abbey Fallen Angel
    -- Serpents' Stout
    -- Amazing Grace
    -- FW XV
    -- Helldorado
    -- Sucaba
    -- 2011 Parabola

If the pours had been smaller, I might have been OK.

This was the kind of night that dreams are made of. Spent an hour chatting with Matt from FW that night while trying to kick the Helldorado keg, which wasn't so hard. Next time I will be public transiting for a night like that.

The worst part about that night was that I went there immediately after the DIPA fest, so I had already been drinking tons of 8%-12% beers and sitting in the sun all day. Then we get there and drink a bunch more high-ABV stuff. It sure was a painful night.

Anyway, I quoted this part to say "That's why you split the glasses with someone". Twice the ticks for the same amount of pain!
You'll just have to camp out at my place if it happens again.

Looking forward to the opening gala, had a lot of fun last year especially near the end of the night when I got a free stein and appropriately sized pours :sunglasses: Talking to Vinnie was really cool and SF Fusion was frakkin delicious - when can I get those magic blueberry hops for homebrewing?? Hoping I can make some more of the other events this year, -Tion night looks like a must.

I did split them with my wife. It wasn't enough for safety. Perhaps I was drinking more than my half...

A friend is looking for tickets last minute. Craigslist is coming up empty. Any suggestions?

They still had them for sale until about 10 a.m. this morning. I'd just show up. Someone will be trying to unload tickets outside.

Drgarage and I had a good time tonight. I had probably 25 tasters. Happy beer week all!
