This was a shot from about the busiest part of the day (Saturday), despite how busy it looks I'd say I only ever waited a minute or so for a beer sample (besides the Fremont special release lines). [IMG]

I feel the same way about adult behavior so much more than kids behavior. Just saying....kids don't etch "dick" in our mirrors every week. I just think we need to be more tolerant overall of all people in our society, even adults who forget they were kids once or people who do or don't like pets of all kinds. It's a big world that we all have to share and it's better if we get on about the business of sharing it with acceptance and kindness.

You NWers crack me up :grinning:

fwiw in BC event organizers have to jump through quite a few more hoops (hoops cost lots of money) to allow kids, and most special events animals are another major PITA to allow. dog sitters and baby kennels are a thing right?

There's no doubt I've gotten increasingly more intolerant the older I've become (despite my best and most determined efforts not to), but that really wasn't the point of my post in this case.

I think the topic has been discussed ad nauseum in the past, and I don't want to rehash the matter, or continue to beat a dead horse. However...

For me this is all about safety, and it's what sets me off when I see parents with their small children at an event like OBF (an event I've been to many times and feel like I can comment on). Especially during "prime time," which is generally Friday afternoon and evenings, and all day Saturday, the downtown park area is an absolute mob scene, and the level of inebriation is impressive. Yet despite that, I've seen parents with small children in strollers, and other small children running around unsupervised. Over the years, I've seen children inadvertently kicked, knocked down and shoved aside. I've also seen somewhat worse for wear patrons trip over strollers and smaller children. If OBF was a fun event for children (which IMHO it's not), then I could at least see an argument made for bringing them to an event like OBF (despite the problems). There's a place where they can get their face painted, there's food of course, and I think they can get free sodas, but that's about it. Temperatures can also get very warm for this event, and so what a surprise that I often see cranky, bored kids crying, trying to get away from their parents, and often times running around playing tag (with other kids) or hide n seek. Sorry, but when I see some small child inadvertently kicked or knocked over by some drunk, or have some beer dumped on them, it's difficult for me not to start feeling a bit steamed (which in turn leads to the mumbling mentioned in my prior post).

Twelve String was the big surprise of the festival for me; some really interesting barrel aged beers. The line seemed pretty healthy most of the time too.

Do they distribute to the Seattle area?

They were one of my surprises, too. I think I've seen them once or twice at Chuck's but I don't think they're really distributed here. Hopefully that'll change.

Totally agree, I mean I wouldn't recommend any adult go to OBF during primetime! WA Beer Fest had like 5-6 bouncy castles setup in a different section on the side of the main fest. This was the primary kid area. It's quite a large space so it's never crowded. I certainly wouldn't expect every fest to be kid friendly, it's only appropriate in the right environment.

I remember before the sale, these folks had one of this busiest tents, even last year they had decent traffic. I'm guess the local angst is at its highest, unless I missed a rush this pic depicts their booth for the fest.
