Mikerphone posted a photo of 3 VERY hazy beers being released this week...might have to make the Trek out to EGV this week.

So I openend a can of Snoocie Boochies last night and I have to say I think its hitting its sweet spot - absolutely incredible. The first few cans I had were a bit bitter and green, but that is all gone. This is the best Chicagoland NE style IPA i've had in a very long time ... it might be the best since the original canned batch of Juicy from Ram.

My only issue with blind taste tests (which I think are valuable, don't get me wrong), is that I've found that there can be a significant difference between even a first and second sip of the same beer, so I'd probably have a hard time working with 3 or 4 beers at the same time.

(unless I went super-nerd, and brushed my tongue and thoroughly cleansed my palate for a bunch of time between sips of different beers. which...I might do)

    Now your getting ridiculous

"The 1st sip of Juicy was better than the 1st sip of Julius. But the 2nd sip of Julius was better than the 3rd sip of Juicy." How do I rank these!?!?... Jesus, I need a stout

That could actually be a really fun blind taste test to do with your friends. Tell them you have 4 different whale NEIPAs and then just serve them the same beer 4 times, but at different temps...let hilarity ensue...

Straight up, unadulterated opinions are fine -- they're what create discussion. Trying to pass opinions off as invariable facts, however . . . well . . . you see the difference.

I see where you're coming from, but I feel like it's fine to bring up your stance in a message board without a bunch of caveats. Just because he didn't say "hey in my opinion, everyone's palate is different, I know this can change based on personal taste" doesn't mean we can't just go ahead with the assumption that we're all talking about personal preference.

I agree with this sentiment. They are getting better/more complex as time passes. I already finished 6 in 7 days. Yikes!

I don't think anyone is taking issue with this. The issue is that we're going from "everyone has different opinions" to "anyone saying this is a liar."

Sorry to keep belaboring this point, it's just a pet peeve of mine.
I've gotta say that this is making me seriously re-consider my weekend beer plans...4 cans of Snoochie would last longer than a howler from FR...
    :stuck_out_tongue:

I dunno what to tell you, man. I had a can of Beer Hates Astronauts a few days back where the first sip was absolutely perfect (super clear citra, nice malt backing, etc.), and the second was significantly less bright-tasting. My only point was that I prefer to have these beers one at a time so that each one is coming at me with a completely clear palate.

@BJP do you ever plan on experimenting with lactose and making milkshake style IPAs? Everything you have been doing lately has been spot on, for me at least. I would love to see your take on that style of NE IPA.

    Where you been Mike?

Stay Lit & Radio both have lactose.

Stay Lit has twice the amount that Radio has...and, for my taste, Stay Lit is the upper threshold.

So yeah, it has it's place. I've never had an over the top "milkshake" ipa. I'd be interested in trying one. *hint hint*

The Tired Hands milkshakes are VERY sweet.

They got me into the whole New England craze but at this point I can barely drink one.

Haha I have not had Radio Swan (heard rave reviews), and Idk how I missed that Stay Lit had lactose in it. Probably a reason why I really preferred that one.

So despite being part of the evil InBev empire, GI Clybourn was my first local brewpub and still has a special place in my heart despite being "closed for renovations". Given the beautiful temps here and more outdoor time, I am currently missing their "Farmer's Market" series where they would grab fresh fruit or herbs from the local farmers market and add them to a current beer on tap. What are people's experiences with fruited NEIPAs? Does this work well or does it just destroy the magic of pricey hops? I haven't had the Noon Whistle stuff and I believe they are the only people doing it locally.

NW's fruit variants of their gummies are top notch for me. Down by the peach boyyeee was fantastic. It carries out the hops more than destroys them, in my opinion.

I've had two now and they were decent, but not as good as the regular Gummys. Did Say Me Fantastic have pineapple in it? Because I didn't particularly like that one either.
