Heading out to the west coast for a few days and staying in Westlake Village, CA. Looking for breweries and/or bars in the area to hang at and would love some recommendations. Good food is always a plus but not a necessity. I will have access to a car but won't have time to travel more than 15-20 mins in any direction. Not interested in bringing anything home, just want to enjoy what I can while I'm out there. Thanks!
Well you should know that SoCal traffic is awful so 15-20 minutes means 1 mile or something. In theory Casa Agria Specialty Ales is roughly 20 minutes away from Westlake Village, and you should definitely stop by there. Known for their sours, saisons and hazy IPAs.
Finney’s Crafthouse usually has a great tap list. Draughts in Thousand Oaks - taplist on internest. Bottle and Pint in Thousand Oaks has a great taplist always and bottles for sale. You can find their taplist on their instagram Darryl’s Couch in Camarillo great taplist, updated on their website. Institution Ale house in Camarillo. Great local brewery with great IPA's.
There is also Westlake Brewing & Libation. Haven't been yet but probably will try to check it out next time I'm in the area visiting my mom
Malibu Sundowner in Wades Wines has the best taplist in the area. Call ahead because they have weird hours. As mentioned above, CASA is a must and Institution is definitely worth a stop. Maybe consider Five Threads in Westlake which is hit or miss but they have cheap flights. Hard pass on Westlake Brewing.
Triple is always a solid choice Seriously their sours are so good. If they still have brett blossom on tap, go for it as its a hit forsure. If your looking for a ton of taps check out wades wines (they have a tasting room) and generally good selection to purchase as well.
