My FedEx driver is an awesome lady. One of the first things I did after I started trading was take Cbeer's advice (along with others) about getting to know your driver. Know their name, chat with them, leave them a nice card on holiday's, etc. Well, it paid off yesterday.

I'll keep this short-ish. Our house was broken into yesterday. No one was home and my wife and daughter are fine. They made off with some jewelry, but nothing heirloom or super valuable. Be sure to lock your windows. My wife will never forget again.

Nevertheless, on to the beer related part of this story. Yesterday our FedEx driver arrived to deliver a fresh sixer of Zombie Dust, courtesy of TotallyHosed (great trader, btw). No one was home. She usually waits to see if my wife will answer so they can chat a bit (Our driver also delivers to my wifes office so they've gotten to know each other as well). At the same time a roofing crew was working across the street. My detective sense tells me that one of those assholes was the perp. Lots of roofs have been replaced in our neighborhood this summer. They've got all the places cased.

Instead of leaving the package at the door, which means it almost certainly would have disappeared, our driver took the package to my wifes office. She didn't have any deliveries to the office. She simply wanted to make sure our package was safe. She even mentioned to my wife that several packages have gone missing this summer in our neighborhood and others.

I know this is a "cool story, bro" but I just wanted to continue to harp on the advice given to me to appreciate and foster relationships with your drivers. It pays off.

And MordorMongo, please grace this thread with your usual tag line.

I'd find out what kind of beverage or other interest she likes, and give her a nice gift this holiday season. Good story.

Ship yourself a six pack of piss and tell the FedEx lady not to worry about bringing that one to your wife's office.

Geez man, really sorry to hear that but that's awesome you have an upside to the story! When I win the LIF I'll make sure to send you a consolation prize.

She's not bad, for a FedEx driver. I'm pretty sure she's single. I could hook you up.

I have boxes delivered to my work for this exact reason. I was wondering if receiving boxes at work is a normal thing, anyone else do it? I almost always ship to home addresses so I feel like I am in the minority here.

I'd probably ship to work if I could. I commute most days via bus so it doesn't work out. After this ordeal, though, I might just start shipping to my wifes office. I'm going to talk with my driver next time I see her.

True, I occasionally bike to work and usually just leave the box at work, but I have been known to slip a bottle or two into my commuting bag

Great story, glad you shared it. I try to be nice to all the delivery personnel that I come across (work or home). Great example of the golden rule.
