DC/MD/NoVA Beer Updates (2017)

Thanks for the rec and I agree, beer for the shower is always a clutch move.

 

if you need a break on your way (assuming you're taking 29 into town) around warrenton is old bust head, wort hog (i prefer this one) and powers farm brewery. on the way to culpeper you have old trade farm brewery, in culpeper you have far gohn (i prefer) and beer hound brewery, and then in madison you have bald top farm brewing. these are all pretty close to 29 so you wouldnt be going too far out of your way.

in charlottesville, its an easy walk to hit up Champion > South Street Brewing (which has food), Hardywood Taproom > Three Notch'd > Random Row.

if weather is nice and you are tired of being in a car, you could do a day trip to Devil's Backbone (InBev owned but really nice outdoor area), Wild Wolf Brewing, Blue Mountain Brewing (my favorite in this area also has a nice outdoor area/view). Each of these have food too. There are several wineries, cideries and a distillery in the vicinity if anyone is into that. And if you need more drinks, Pro Re Nata and Starr Hill could be easy stops on your way back into town.

 

Has anyone been to the new Solace brewery yet? I'm wondering if they're going to be taking a more conventional approach a la Mustang Sally, or brewing more modern beers like Ocelot and Aslin.

 

I've been checked out of the beer world for a while. Anything neat happening in/around Baltimore in the next week or so?

Also I've been here for like a year and I am yet to make a beer friend. Do you guys do like tastings or get togethers or anything?

 

Union is doing their 5 year anniversary party at Max's next Thursday night. Pretty large tap takeover.

 

any sightings of stickee monkey in baltimore county, or surrounding areas? i called five places today and heard five different things, but the one constant is no one seems to have it!

 

Where did you call so far? I heard a few places (Shawan and Drink) were scheduled to get their shipment this week.

 

Diamondback has a can release coming up on July 8. Last release was a ton of fun with a huge line share. Being a few beers and you'll make tons of new friends.

 

Picked up a 4pack of Black Flag's Mambo Sauce at Lighthouse Liquors the other day and that is some damn fine Maryland beer!

 

I was in Shawan yesterday and the guy told me it got pushed back to next week.

Yes sir. Nova is also getting Civil Society stuff now. Dominion had a keg of Fresh a couple days ago, and is was fantastic. Hopefully it becomes a pretty regular thing.

Anyone have Hardywood RUM GBS or Apple Brandy GBS and want to trade 1 to 1 for a Dark Lord or a trade of something?

BBA Monster's Park dropped in DC in August last year, so not a total pipe dream.

 

Not sure if any still there but picked up a bottle of Mexican Cake at Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits yesterday. Behind the counter so have to ask for it. Good luck.
