Perhaps I'm not on this site enough, but what is a pastry stout?

It's when a brewer adjuncts the shit out of a stout, usually with maple, vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate, etc. to the point where there is little to no balance left. Basically what everyone lines up for these days.

I've only tried Vanilla, but it was excellent. I personally think it killed Madagascar when I had them both.

Personal, and most likely unpopular opinion:

    Vlad Vanilla > Madagascar
    Vlad Maple > CW Maple

The Vlad Coffee was excellent as well.

As far as the BA versions, I've only had Coffee and the first batch of Vanilla Vlad. I've had the regular Conquistador recently. I think they are all good, but nothing great. The base is just too thin for my preference, and not really complex until they add the adjuncts.

Just left local option empty handed, got there at 12:40. It's packed with 2 guys working. All BA pipeworks was sold out few minutes after opening. Saw people with a case full and others with 1 bottle. Rohrwerker is $25 a bottle.

How are they able to sell to go?

Trying some Conquistador right now. It's not mind blowing but I do like it. Vanilla, agave and a little cinnamon up front, chili and barrel on th back end.

What bottles, besides Rohrwerker, were they selling to go?

Local Option has a license that allows them to sell bottles to go. They've done it in the past with Bourbon County.

So I just saw on Instagram that Epic will be distributing in IL by August. This means we'll be getting one of my favorite BA stouts of all time - Big Bad Baptist.

I usually buy several bottles at a time when I see it in Wisconsin, but having it around here will be great!

I can't find anything online about this... but I heard Epic just bought out black belt brewing in lake Zurich (I live in LZ and was talking to a guy at a bar). He said they bought it and have a taproom in the works. Weird that I can't find any confirmation online though... so take it as rumor for now.

Curious...has the Dragons Milk S'mores been around and easy to get? Some of the variants release in small quantities (Triple Mash) while others like Mexican Spice Cake were around for weeks by me.

It was available at the Naperville Binnys for at least a few days. I was able to get a couple 4 packs. One of my favorite variants so far.

Hailstorm has hit it out of the park. Again. Vlad the Conquistador rocks.
