As Belgian Strong Dark Ales go, it's not elite level, but certainly in the A-/B+ range. Could be drier and have more of a spicy phenol presence, but is smooth and hides the alcohol really well. It's actually not that high priced for the style, so that's where 'worth it' seems to come in. When you're in the mood for something solid that won't cost too much, it fits that niche well enough.

Everything I've had from them has been an unbalanced mess.

I don't think they are trying to make their Cream Ale anything more than mediocre at the prices it sell at.
I really like Cream Ales - but I would choose many others before Genesee

The only breweries in would avoid even if the beer looked interesting are flying dog and southern teir. Sam Adams has come up a few times and I can't say I've liked anything of theirs except the Boston lager, which I think is actually really good.

Tell me people, can you feel the love in this building...
My candidate for this hater list will always be Northwest Brewing. I used to drink their beer but the quality was often inconsistent. They are a local brewer so I visited them to (politely) ask about some of the issues that I had noticed and the guy that I talked to was rude and condescending... and he was the owner!!

It's easy to hate on older breweries who may not have updated their styles. But seriously, is anyone trying to convince you that Harpoon or Sam Adams or Stone or DFH or Rogue is this amazing brewery that you have to check out?

I would say they all have made serious contributions to the craft beer scene, and continue to have quality, worthwhile beers. If you're bored with their styles, fine. They got big and have more inertia to stick with their top sellers. A lot of them still make interesting stuff to appeal to the beer geek crowd.

Enjoy your local brewery that doesn't distribute to stores. But know they likely wouldn't exist without the pioneers.

it's not that they aren't any good but Sam Adams, Harpoon, New Belgium's beers all taste meh. Nothing ever changes. Its like the difference between chain and owner operated restaurants

As much as I hate to say it, the Goose Island brews that aren't brewed in Chicago (you know, the ones that are brewed at the Bud breweries now). I used to love GI Urban 312 Wheat, but now I can't stand it. The last time I drank it it was a shell of the beer it used to be. There isn't much of the grainy/wheatiness that I liked in it in the past. Some people say the InBev brewed GI beers are the same, but I don't agree from my experience.

I am currently having Dark Horse Bourbon Barrel Plead The 5th and it sucks. Dark Horse totally takes the cake on this bad brewery feud.

I'm feeling very Mr. Garrison when he was with Mr. Hat. "You go to hell. You just go to hell." Haha.

I loved clown shoes. Compared to Florida it's a huge upgrade. Fantastic.

    What can't you take?

Abita is a cheap excuse for hops. HEAVY SEAS is a dud.

Space Cake and Tramp Stamp specifically. Dislike there marketing and format in general. I know a lot of people like there stuff, but so much other good stuff I buy instead.

I'm more a fan of appreciating beers and not shitting on brewery's. Don't like where this thread is going after reading the first couple of pages...

Agree, I don't buy as much North Coast as I should but that is because their beers are always there. But I love most of their beers and it's a brewery I reach for knowing that I'm not going to be disappointed.

There's a few that come to mind; Green Flash, and Magic Hat IMO is crap, Green Flash even has the blue print to Alpine beers and dropped the ball. It's not crap, but it's definately a dumbed down version of the Origional.

3 Floyd's. (Sans Permenant Funeral) one of the most overrated breweries ever. Zombie Hype is literally a shadow of a beer it was years ago and Darklord is like drinking burnt sugar over chocolate and coffee.
