High prices? Isn't blackstack like $8 a pint? I haven't been so I can't confirm, only heard other people talk about their prices.

$6 (and that includes tax) for a NE IPA that can compete with Trillium is unbelievably priced well. Hops are expensive and the use a lot. They could easily charge more and it would still sell.

And for the amount of fruit that they use in their sours.... good luck finding a Berliner that is up there with wakefield for less. There is a reason you are paying $7 for 10 oz of their 'specialty' beers. They cost a lot to make.

Not trying to start any arguments, but their beers are priced very fair.

Just to add a little context, I was in Boston last weekend and went to Trilliums new beer garden and paid $9 for 12oz pours of their Double IPA's and $7 for a 12oz of one of their double dry hopped IPA's. If Barrel Theory is that good (i haven't been yet), then I don't think their pricing is out of line.

Sounds like they should have opened a parking ramp instead of a brewery.

Parking is not that bad - I live there. Except during Saints games and it is a shitshow.

Anyone on this site who has a problem paying whatever for beer and the associated costs that go along with this hobby need to take a serious look in the mirror and re-evaluate their level of interest. If you don't want to pay then don't, no one cares what you are or aren't willing to pay for or where you're willing to go. It's like saying I love to golf but the clubs are too expensive and I hate walking the course.

I was the lucky #100. It is very early, but I have the utmost confidence in this brewery to become one of the premier breweries in the Twin Cities. They not only had a great repertoire right out of the gate but with two veterans who possess incredible knowledge and industry experience, as well as being some of the nicest Ive met..I am excited for BT!

Respectfully disagree. This is a web site to talk about beer. While I don't have an issue with what BT is charging for their beers, there is certainly some insane pricing on beer & clubs that deserves discussion &, yes, criticism. Trying to suppress that discussion will just lead to a worthless board full of homerism & rah-rah.

A fair point I'd say -- just not a very popular one. :grinning:
(Aside: I recall selling a kid on British imports ('03?), and when he remarked on the high prices, I respectfully suggested he consider a new hobby. His jaw dropped... :grimacing: )

(Note: None of the following is addressed to any particular user -- it's just food for thought

If concerned about price, why not ask why some pours are priced more than others? That question may get you a "deer caught in headlights' look in response, but if the brewer is there, who knows - maybe they'll be happy to talk shop about their production costs?

Regarding the cost of parking in downtown / Lowertown . . .

Until more ramps / competition is introduced, it will only increase as the profile ("hipness") of the area is raised. And while it won't be an ideal suggestion for everyone, one might consider finding a good spot to park in a residential neighborhood and using public transit to get to and fro: The Green Line was built for a reason, and it might even save you a few bucks now that it's in service.

After going to Barrel Theory twice over the weekend. My wife regrets that I didn't go stand in line on July 1st. This is the highest praise BT will ever get.

She loves their Berliners and is very excited that they will continue to brew many variations of their Berliner. She rated it higher than J Wakefield (I think someone mentioned it earlier in the thread) or Jackie O's which were her previous 2 favorites.

I would rank their East Coast IPAs slightly below trillium and above Bissel Bro's but thats just my palate. I had some of the disgrunteled stuff at republic over the weekend and was not impressed. That Lupulin hashy though...get that in cans!

Yeah. We were in Boston a little over a week ago, and hit up Trilliums beer garden a couple of times. Not cheap lol. The beer was alright though. Honestly, I thought I'd like it more than I did.

Beer is worth the price tag to me and I went at 5 on Thursday and parked a block away without an issue.

I was going to haha! However he was marked #99 by the hungover individual who was first in line and there from the night before who kept forgetting where she left off. I was marked 111 but ended up actually being 100!

I was marked number 98 when I arrived at 5:15, but ended up being about 91 when they did wrist bands. I almost skipped thinking I was already too late. I'm so happy I made the trip.

I know the Green Line isn't accessible for everyone, but I took it from Midway St Paul when we visited Barrel Theory and it was a great way to get there. I often go the St Paul Farmer's Market too so am fairly familiar with parking in the area, and the lot at Union Depot is pretty reasonably priced if nothing else can be found.

Drop Tops is a huge improvement over Batch 1. On a side note, the free parking just across 94 (behind the **** shop and liquor store) is ample.

BT has a new IPA on tap called Tear Drops like it predecessor Rain Drops its a NEIPA, however this one is more turbid, and has more Mosaic than Citra in it and slightly lower ABV , IMO

I didn't like this one as much as Rain Drops. It was really yeasty, but I got there not too long after they opened, so it was probably the start of the keg.
