I mean, I think $12/can is pretty ugly (and that line behavior reprehensible), but I have an easier time accepting a craft beer black market on Shakedown St than unscrupulous LI bottle shops.

On that note, who here is going to hit the Baker's Dozen? And where will ya'll be drinking? (and can you get DIPA into MSG????)

Wow I hate you guys for letting me know this instagram page exists. Add it to the list of reasons humanity is doomed

I rarely go to Instagram, but when I do to read release details the comments looks like a bunch of teenage girls gabbing, really hard to read.

Normally these debates about prices and grey/black market sales feel tired and old but it's Independence Day, so especially apropos! In a capitalist democracy my feeling is that if two people want to engage in an economic transaction where they're seeking terms most favorable given the conditions and constraints imposed on them, then who am I to argue against it?

Of course, one of those conditions they exploit is the independence of the craft brewer from the traditional norms of macro breweries; craft norms are forged in a spirit of collaboration and inclusiveness. If the earliest craft brewers were merely capitalists exploiting parched drinkers we wouldn't have the incredible diversity and depth of brewers we enjoy today. They would have worked mercilessly to dominate their respective markets, as well as worked with authorities to stamp out grey and black market sales.

I think then what bothers most of us- why we get annoyed and disgusted by these practices- is that it generally goes against the ideals (insofar as any of us actually subscribe to them) of craft beer, and yes, it does tend to ruin the beer community and scene for some. Frankly, anybody doing this is not a beer advocate, they're a beer exploiter.

And lastly, as it is now past noon in the fine borough of Brooklyn, I got some beer to drink because it ain't gonna drink itself!

For me, convenience is king. I just want to walk in, buy my beers, and walk out. I've done the Philly and Vermont road trips back in the day when the NY beer scene was non-existent. I'm over the hype. The brewery-only release model doesn't work well for my personal consumption. I usually only have 4-8 cans in my fridge at any given point, so I value diversity over quantity. I wish OH sold mixed 4 packs for a 4 beer release. I would buy two of those and be good for 2-3 weeks.

But that's not good for business from OH's POV. The beer bros maxing out with 4 cases every Saturday win out. :slight_frown:

If security is anything like NYE run, don't try to bring any metal inside, beer or otherwise. Going to 4 shows myself. Coming from Brooklyn, so might drink at my local and then head in, or somewhere near W4th stop and then just head uptown a few stops.

BTW - it took my wife and I about 45 minutes to get into MSG for NYE run, so plan accordingly.

Any places to get an updated growler list for Other Half? Their website is much more informative now, with the taplist. Also BeerMenus has taplist as well. But are all of these available in growlers? This is not clear on either. Thanks!

Thinking of going on Saturday, my first OH release. Coming up from South Jersey.

How crazy will this one be? How fast does this stuff usually sell out? Saturday's are a magical day for sleeping in, so is showing up at, like, noon, feasible? Also how bad is the parking sitch...
