Are they even doing everyone the favor of opening early?

I would imagine that people who get shut out will turn to fills and that will decimate the supply. I wanted to get my hands on some more DDH Powdered Cheese but doubtful I will chance going there to get shut out or deal with an overflowing tap room.

Great game! What a match. Sort of nuts it ended in a draw but as Kieran Read said to Warburton - wow this is rugby

And on beer front - full agreed

Come on - we all know there are probably a 100 better ways to handle sales as has been discussed here but they choose to run a shitshow for the hype. As for people in line - it's not about the beer, are these so unique tasting compared to what's out ever other week at OH or other breweries? It's all about the chance to flip some these trinkets for a big profit so I don't blame them as much.

I'll just pick up a growler on my way back from work Tuesday. This is way too much.

And the first reviews are...underwhelming. Kudos to them for being honest. Not sure I'd be able to critique a beer fairly if I waited up all night for it.

I don't know. I think that you're right about some of these folks- the ppl that line up on a weekly basis are surely LI bottle shops and flippers of other sorts. But I think the reason some of these collab releases are such shitshows really is the FOMO, plain and simple. It brings out the casual OH enthusiast who doesn't have time or tolerance for lines a vast majority of the time, but will stomach a long wait for a super hyped beer.

A buddy of mine (who never lines up at OH) went this morning super early, and I probably would've said fuck it and gone with him if I didn't have a newborn to tend to. Because it's like trillium AND monkish dude! That sort of shit will bring out enough of us lurkers from the tri state area to get you a line wrapped around Mickey D's at 7am.

I just wish there weren't so many obviously high people everywhere around here being loud at 7:30 onward.

I am fully on board with you guys that OH knew exactly what they were creating with the dual collaboration + food-inspired design + glassware + breweriana combo for this release. BUT let's not have such short memories, now... After all, it was just one week ago that DDH Ain't Nothin Nice (an outstanding beer that is WAY more appealing to me in this weather than a 10% oated dessert TIPA), Pig Beach, and Watch It Fall Slowly lasted several days, and the "walk-in-and-grab-a-four-pack" dream was alive and well all week. In fact, in the last month, I think the same thing happened with DDH Suparillo and DDH DMD as well.

My hypothesis is that OH is trying to appeal to their "base" (as per their IG post, like they're some kind of political organization lol) with releases like this that keep people really fucking excited and shelling over half a thousand dollars while also trying to appeal to more "casual fans" with the mid-week drops and double-batches of crowd favorites. Plus, I'd speculate that the former may actually be partially enabling/funding the latter. So while I would love to try these potato beers, if "missing out" on them means I can just grab cans of another great OH beer next Tuesday on my way home from work with no line, I'm a-okay with that!

High or drunk? Not sure if being high (or at least only high) is usually associated with being loud and obnoxious. Bottle sharing all night maybe a more likely reason?

Is this going to released at trillium at all or no?

Now if OH dropped a new release on Tuesday as well after this madness - allowing customers to live the dream and walk in and score a six-pack...now that would be amazing.

It seems virtually impossible for the beer to meet expectations if you were excited enough to wait in line overnight to get some of it. I just can't see the return on investment being that high.
