Marijuana is a gateway drug. One minute you're hanging out peacefully smoking a joint, and the next you're shotgunning high abv DIPAs and urinating on people's front porches.

I hold OH responsible for this behavior. Sad!

Overhead on the the Other Half line:

"I'll sober up on the drive home"

"It's all about the ticks, I need those ticks dude"

Got there at 2:30 and there were already 100 people in front of me. Easily the longest line I've ever seen at Other Half. Wrapped around to Court and then all the way around Mobile and McDonald's.

All in all a well run release though. The numbered wrist bands really help eliminate a lot of cutting. Back home already and ready to sample some of these beers before a well deserved nap.

The OH trading group I'm in on FB almost seems to encourage selling. Almost impossible to trade when some dude is willing to drop $75 a 4pk

How can it be when there are numerous other options for great beer within a couple hour radius of the place. What I find amazing about this phenomenon is how long people are willing to wait for something they haven't even tried tried yet.

    The questions must be asked:

Would the line be this long if it were growler fills only?
Would the line be this long if the collabs were not IPAs?

It's been like 4 months since my last OH line wait and I feel like my weekends have been better for it. Plenty of readily available amazing beer out there.

I do miss the brekkie sando from Court Street Grocers though.

No and no. Ppl are worried about growler integrity, which is always a risk. Also, admittedly, its harder to trade or sell a growler, which i'm sure is a consideration for many in that line.

And yeah there's no way there's a line for a trillium/monkish/OH Brett saison. Monkish actually used to be primarily focused on Belgian styles (hence the name) before they discovered that you can make an absolute killing selling hazy IPAs in cans with cool sticker labels.

I live pretty close to OH and never bother to do growlers when the cans run out. I like being able to have one beer of a style every few days over the course of a couple weeks, not 64oz in 2 days.

Nowhere close to this release today, but could someone describe what these beers taste like? Compare them to another OH release (or Monkish/Trillium brew)? No particular FOMO, but I'm curious to hear people's descriptions. I do love Riwaka, but wonder how these beers stand out from the typical crop...

Also - unrelated but maybe in service of the larger point that "the non-sought-after OH brews are secretly some of their greatest" - DDH Foreverever is SUPERB. Picked it up for 4th of July BBQ and had some left over... really wonderful beer. So slept on. Friends look at me like I'm crazy when I say this, but I pick up notes I can only describe as "cereal milk." I don't get it either. Had a similar experience with Superfun. Discuss below.

I go every weekend religiously and usually get there around 6 630am. Today I got there at 6am and decided to turnaround and go back home once I saw the line. I'm not sure but I don't think most of the people in line were locals or regulars.

The earliest I have gotten there has been a little earlier than 8:30. I decided to get "crazy" today and get there for 6:30. Saw the posts and decided to wait for Growlers/Tap Room this afternoon/Evening.

    No and no.

And one more question, if people were not allowed to drink in line would the line be this long or start so early?

    I forgot to add:

Would the line be this long if they bottled vs canned?

That would take the growler quality and quantity questions out of the equation. Making it just about the beer.

Twice Baked is VERY good. Reminds me a lot of No Layups/Raining Threes.

I still think it would be a pretty long line if they bottled these beers instead of canned them. Dinner releases are still a shit show, right? But the cans and stickers do certainly help build the hype.
