Now that's the PNW that I know and love. No one got seriously out of line or all that confrontational, but everyone is quick to clarify how they didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers regardless. I don't doubt this seemed awkward or unneccesary to outsiders, but to me it's what makes this place special.

You will notice that I only recommended this be done "on occasion." To quote Wilde, "Everything in moderation, including moderation."

Can honestly say that I've never had anything off their menu that I didn't love.

Sure as heck was at one point. Hasn't been on the menu the last few times I've been in. Not sure if it was seasonal or if it was just a temporary thing. It was fantastic though. And I'm typically pretty picky when it comes to my tubular meats.

Any IPAs in crowlers over the next couple days?

Key Lime gose crowler release tomorrow, so unlikely unless they do another release on Friday.

I believe that Key Lime Pie release is today.

I would recommend forgetting about taking any beer from there to-go. It is a hassle and confusing to try and figure out what's going on with their release process. If you go in on a non-release day it will not be crowded and you can leisurely sit, drink some of their awesome brews, and have some great food. Stark contrast to the chaos of a release day and much better experience in my opinion.

If you are absolutely dead set on bringing home a crowler then Friday is probably your only hope (other than today). They may or may not release something on Friday. If they do, they may or may not announce the release. If they do announce it, they might do it via Facebook or Instagram (one or the other or both) or maybe some other social media platform that I don't even know about. If they do announce it ahead of time there will be a line (especially if they're releasing an IPA). Good luck to you.

They ever release anything saturdays? I ask because I am going to be able to make a visit this coming Saturday and I really hope there is NOT a release, lol. On that note, is it terribly busy mid afternoon saturdays? Around 4:30?

You're right, I took Monday off so I've been thinking a day behind.

^ Pretty much this. Also, especially for their IPAs, you probably need to get there as close to opening bell as possible. Good luck.

So far as I'm aware they never do Saturday releases (at least anymore). It will be more crowded on Saturday afternoon then it is during the week, but I wouldn't expect a wait at that time (or at least much of one). Nothing like Deschutes, for example.

    Hope you enjoy your visit!

Hey guys! So i'm a little confused, granted I haven't gone back and searched this entire thread, but can someone tell me if Great Notion will fill crowlers of everything they have on tap at the moment or is there a special day of the week where they release specific ones??

Visiting Portland for the first time later this month and this is #1 on the list!

Great Notion does not currently offer crowler fills of everything. Lately it's been one or two beers at most and sometimes none at all. There really isn't any schedule to base it on. They're supply constrained while they work on an expansion.

Just go there and enjoy the beers on tap. Let go of crowler FOMO and maybe you'll get lucky and be able to take something home. If not, you'll be able to drink the beers.

C'mon man it's not FOMO i'm worried about. I plan to go and enjoy either way but would like to have some to take back to California with me. I'm not some mule or anything.

A simple answer without snark would be nice on BA some day.

If you had seen the number of posts focusing exactly on crowler FOMO, you'd understand. And, that wasn't snark; it was solid information, and friendly, local advice.

Crowler releases are on M/W/F - but not every M/W/F. They also sometimes, but not often, do a surprise Saturday release. If you follow them on Instagram or FB, they usually announce releases ahead of time.

edit - oh, and here's their crowler policy.

Yeah, wasn't trying to be snarky at all. You probably don't hang in our regional forum. We see way too many people seriously upset by the inability to take a crowler with them. For as many people who are dying to just drink the stuff, sometimes that's good enough. Last time I was there they weren't offering crowlers at all.

Last Friday they had Blueberry Muffin and Grapefruit Zest for fills. BM went pretty quick from what a friend told me.

Maybe it's just me, but, expecting to have a brand new brewery up and running by "early fall", when you haven't even broken ground in mid-summer, seems optimistic. But, maybe construction goes quicker in PDX than in the other places I've seen.

Haha! Yeah, as someone who has worked construction, that seems like a pipe dream. Have they even started the permitting process?
